The seeds I ordered(5lbs of them) were treated. The description mentioned nothing of treatments. I emailed them since they dont list a phone number (RED FLAG), and they said it "clearly stated treated seeds". well, I looked and looked and finally found some icon in the corner with the treatment's logo. Nothing in the actual product description. Told them I was sending them back and they said to read "terms and conditions" all sales final. So.... $75 worth of trash. I can't use them. |

They proceeded to ask a multitude of questions trying to replicate the problem. After waiting 12-13 days I contacted them wondering whats going on. They admitted their results were poor, and tried to claim I was out of my 120 day money back guarantee period. They only wanted to offer me a credit toward a future purchase. I had to correct them by pointing out that I WAS still within my 120 day period, and that I wanted a refund or a replacement package of seeds. Finally had to threaten them with freezing the original purchase amount (benefits of Paypal !) before I got results. Issue finally resolved with a refund, but I have now lost 6 weeks of pre-season growth, dont have the variety I wanted, and they put me through weeks of frustration. Buyer beware! In my opinion, this is bottom of the barrel customer service and I will certainly take my future business elsewhere. |
| Negative | Grunewald (1 review) | On Feb 19, 2016, Grunewald Saint Hedwig, TX wrote: Ordered seed from Reimers before, no problems. Ordered seed on 2-6-16, expedited, paid $72 for seed. Received delivery on 2-10-16, but order was for someone else. Sent message to their customer service twice now, and no response. Sent an email to their email address with complaint about the situation. Hopefully they will respond. Had read all the negative comments before, but had good results. Guess I went to the well once too often. Now getting late to plant seed, want them in the ground around March 15, won't happen now. This really sucks. |

| Neutral | nnavarra61 (1 review) | On Dec 28, 2015, nnavarra61 Willow Grove, PA wrote: I ordered my seeds & received them faster than expected using standard shipping. I ordered 1 packet each of Juliet, 4th of July, Amish Paste & Mortgage. The germination rates were drastically different, the Juliet & 4th of July had about a 90% rate, however the Amish Paste & Mortgage Lifters came in at about 10-15%. I was able to get sufficient germination to plant my small tomato garden and those of a few family members. Still am a little disappointed that I didn't get as many heirloom plants as I wanted. Wonder if it is hybrids vs. heirlooms, a friend I share with had the same experience. I will say one thing that is no reflection on Reimers, I found the 4th of July's were actually very sour. |
| Negative | louage (1 review) | On Apr 21, 2015, louage mississauga, Canada wrote: Ordered from Reimer because of the huge variety of tomato seeds they carry. This year I decided would be easier to get from one place. Horrible germination rates. Some packs I only got 1 seed germinating. Bought a pack here locally and got over 90% germination. Messed up my tomato growing this year. Will have to buy plants instead in a month. |
| Negative | herk59 (1 review) | On Feb 16, 2015, herk59 Early, TX wrote: I have used Reimer Seeds for several years. Their products are OK, not exceptional. They are really slow to respond and ship. This year, I go to order some stuff from them and I am offered an option; pay an extra $5 and your order gets processed more promptly. Otherwise it may take 3-10 days before it is processed. NO WAY! They are already slow, why should I pay extra to get them off their butts? If I pay them extra to expedite my order, then someone else's order just get pushed back further. I will not do business with them again. We should expect good service from people we give our money to. I left them an e-mail expressing my opinion of their arrogant scheme, but of course, I have not received a reply. |

I visited their site, ordered 5 seed varieties and then happened to find the "Scoop" in Dave's Garden for Reimers. My experience was very positive. Their site was easy to navigate and purchase on secure shopping cart. The seeds were send in bubble pack USPS First class and arrived within several days of purchase - they are in Maryland and I'm in Massachusetts. The seeds were in neat packages, ample count and I have every expectation of germination this next Spring. I order lots online and grow my entire garden from seed. I sometimes wonder if the negatives posted on Dave's Garden are from novice gardeners who maybe have unrealistic expectations or maybe even lack of experience in growing from seed. My experience was very positive and I would not hesitate in ordering from Reimers Seed again. |

| Negative | Ukiahwine (1 review) | On Jul 29, 2013, Ukiahwine Ukiah, CA wrote: I puchased seeds from this company this year, mainly because they seemed to be the one supplier that offered all three seeds that I wanted, for one shipment. Unfortunately, neither of the tomato varieties I ordered were what I received. Yes, the packages indicated they were what I ordered. But the tomatoes growing on the plants tell a different story. Instead of Japanese Black Trifeles, which I planted for a special project, I see some indescript small red slicing tomato instead. And the packet of Green Zebras is producing a hard red strangely shaped pear tomato. At least the Padron pepper seeds turned out to be Padron peppers. This is the first time I have experienced a situation like this from a seed company. Will never order from Reimer Seeds again. Wasted an entire season on tomatoes I did not want and have to wait until next to complete my project. |

I received an order confirmation and my credit card was billed correctly; the company then refused to send my order. My address wasn't in the data base that they use. The address was correct and I'd been receiving my mail there for some time but, even after many emails and a phone conversation, they continued to refuse to mail the order. I went to my local postmaster and obtained a letter confirming the validity of the address; I sent a copy of the letter and an image of the plat map showing the address to them. No joy. No one at Reimer Seeds was willing to take the trouble to write an address on an envelope. |

I seriously found Reimer seeds to be the most competent of all places I have ordered from. Do you realize they have the lowest prices of all sites I looked at? They can't help what the postage rates are. That is where the high cost comes in. Have you tried to mail anything lately? The postal rates are outrageous. And people saying they didn't get very many seeds, when each packet contains double and triple of the amount you ordered. And seriously, when you let seeds sit for years before you plant them, or you just don't plant them correctly, what do you expect? Don't blame the company because you didn't follow planting guidelines. I do realize sometimes you do everything right and still have bad results. Several peoples comments were fair, from good gardeners. I am just tired of people who don't have anything better to do than sit around and complain. Get off your computer and try putting more effort in to your garden and you might get better results. |

I've grown this variety for over 20 years and because it does so well in our locale, friends and neighbors buy starts from me in the Spring. It didn't take long before they, too, began to notice the difference: the tomatoes don't ripen inside, instead of red they are white and taste crummy. The major selling point of this variety of tomato over the years in catalog descriptions has been that they have a 'red gene', where the inside ripens a bright red. I have emailed Reimer Seed repeatedly. I received no reply. A seed company that sends 'random' seed and doesn't back up its product is pretty useless! |

Last Night I saw a email in my inbox saying they sent me the missing seeds. No word to any of my questions, concerns. No apology, nothing. Like nothing ever happened. I think Donald Reimer has a problem dealing with mistakes/problems of businesses and deals with those like the Ostrich sticking his head in the Sand. So I think I am leaving the Negative rating, even I am supposed to be getting my seeds because I still feel I am being ignored..... By the way, when I tried to delete my credit card number, after I logged on to my account I could see my credit-card# written on top of the last order, the whole number, not encrypted at all. That does not make me feel comfortable ever doing business with them. I am going to ask them to remove my personal information including any credit-card files with proof that it has done....after I get my missing seeds. Even it is supposed to be on a secure site, we all know how often computers get hacked nowadays. Beware if you ever ordered from them I advise to go see if your account has your credit card# posted. |
