I'm also a little bit facebook challenged. I need to have one of my kids give my a Facebook 101 class. ^_^
Jim, I would love to be facebook friends with you, but I can't find you either. It woud be quicker for me to drive up to see you than it will be for me to find you on facebook. Since you are probably better at it than I am, I'm NDJoan, maybe you can find me?
By the way, did you wake up to a most unwelcome surprise from Mother Nature this morning too? I'm alternating between stomping down the carpet as I pace from room to room complaining, to staring out the window with a tear in my eye.
Please don't say that you had a snow???????????? It has been near and over 100 degrees for a couple of months now.............Part of me is happy for you and part of me is so glad I don't live in cold weather.
Yep, snow!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/998676/
my email is bigoldbuck@wil.midco.net
you can find me that way,
The news just came on at 6 and 99 degrees it will be tomorrow.................nothing new............
id rather it be cool then that darn hot,you can keep that gail
Don't ever think I would brag about our weather...........miserable when it is 99 and soooooooo humid. If I could move, I would, trust me! ^_^
I agree. I prefer cool to that hot, but this much cool this time of year is testing my patience. LOL Isn't there someplace in between that has a nice even 70 to 80 degrees year around?
I really would love live about 2hours south of Dallas and 1 hour north of Austin. They actually have four good seasons. I was there this past week and every morning we could sit outside on the patio, drink coffee with the cool breeze. The humidity is not bad........and they really get to have a winter, spring, summer and fall.
We just get one month of winter (not freezing very often), no fall and no spring. We just go from winter to summer and back to winter.
Well, I have to have fall. That's my favorite time of year. I need the feeling of winding down after the frantic growing season. Time to feel that my work is nearly done for the year as I watch the trees turn colors while also filling the freezer and pantry with foodstuff for the winter. I should have been born a squirrel...or better yet, a bear. They get to sleep all winter.
I think the Tyler area would be perfect. Far enough away from the "big" city. Has hills and tall trees. Better share of rain.
Tyler is in east Texas but I don't like pine trees.......although Tyler is the capital of roses in Texas. It is a beautiful place.
I also love the hill country around Kerrville. Although the summers are very hot, they do cool down at night unlike us.
I did live for 11 years in Ruidoso, NM at the base of the mountain. I loved it during the winter months and skiing, etc.......with the kids, but then April would come and it was still snowing and I would get soooooooo depressed. When October would come we would have our first snow and I was always ready for the first adrenalin rush.
I figure the Tyler area is perfect. It has the pine trees that I love, yet it is within the state line that I love. I get the love of pine trees from Oregon. My grandparents used to live in Portland (which is where I was born) - so maybe it's in my genes?
Although, if I had a choice (once I win the lottery) - I think Colorado would be my home of choice. The air is clear, there are seasons, and the average high is 85! (remind me gail, and I will show you the pictures of when I was stuck at home for 3 days during a blizzard in oh, 97/98-timeframe). And it wouldn't matter much that they have state income taxes . . . I wouldn't work there (I won the lottery, remember?)!
OH my goodness does Colorado bring memories. I can't think of a better place to live!! All my kids were on ski team in middle and high school....The ski coach and i would load all the ski team into my surburban every Friday afternoon, drive all night to Colorado for them to compete on Saturday and Sunday. Then we would take turns driving all night long back to Ruidoso in time for the kids to get to school on time.
I could hold 12 pairs of snow skis on the rack......and turn the entire back of the car into a giant bed.......sleeping 8-10 kids all night..........they never complained but I know how crowded they were. Exhausted they were and that is probably why they had no trouble sleeping.
So many beautiful areas of Colorado besides all the ski areas............but I knew the ski areas best.
I have only been in Colorado during the summer months only a couple or three times in my life......not a bad place to live for sure.
id move to somewhere where theres a lot of trout, wyoming or montana
I always wanted skiing lessons while we lived in Denver. The glitch with that, is my bday is in August.
Trout would be nice. But, when I wanted to fish, I could always go up to Trout Lake in Canada. I've heard that's nice.
I'm on facebook. It is very hard to navigate. I finally found an FAQ page only to discover that all of the answers are deleted.
The danger is any time you try one of those quizzes you are asked for your cell phone.
DONT
You are then charged a monthly fee. By submitting your cell you are accepting to be charged( but they dont tell you that). I just went to weather.org to see if we could cut hay and got a request for my cell.
Yesterday, I got an email for Google earth. Said it was free, but then they wanted my cell. It is the new scam
Jim , I just sent you an "add a friend" request " on facebook
Nicole--come harvest crops--can't hold the grapes much longer--they will go to waste!
kinit--I thought it might be something like that--so I don't take the quizzes that ask for my cell #. Sometimes the invites can be very provacative. For instance, The IQ test has you answer all the questions, then requires your cell # to get your results! And....you get messages like--Jim thinks you are really dumb b/c you didn't take the IQ test he challenged you to.(I really got that one!--LOL) And they advertise my IQ, even though I did not take the quiz! LOL
I'm trying to get my facebook page set up, but I'm definitely on Twitter...anyone else?
Havent got to twitter yet, but it is in my future.
Is it twitter.com?
Dave's Garden is on twitter! http://twitter.com/dgdave and you can send a DG tweet http://davesgarden.com/tweet.php
It's kind of a fun way to see what's being updated on DG, whether it be additions to PlantFiles, Gardenwatchdog, journals, diaries, etc. Whenever something is updated (except the forums) a tweet is automatically sent.
Edited to fix the DG tweet link
