So glad they can make her comfortable!! my mom had one of those beds when she was convalescing, too. It just didn't look comfortable to me, but she liked it.
My Mom
Willow, I just saw this thread tonight. I will keep you and your mom in my prayers. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. If you need some time to yourself, I can come "Mom sit" for you.
Glad to hear about the mattress. That is such a help.
Speaking from experience, please make sure that you get 'me' time.
Hugs coming your way!
My sis came today and cleaned mom's room while I did some of the rest of it. And I made her lunch. Good trade. Both of them have said they will help with the cleaning. That will be so nice. Now if I can sneak outside for a couple of hours twice a week it will be good. I did mom's nails today, soak, scrub, cut and lotion. When I put the file under the nail to clean on the tingling finger she yelled 'ouch'. That was a surprise. I am getting some time-Look I'm on the computer.
Love the pictures. Mom's flower vase today contains a pink rose and a dark pink peony. The peony is one she gave me from her yard in Port Orchard.
Sending more positive thoughts your way, and adding another bloom to your Mom's virtual boquet.
It's nice that you made sure that she has a real one too. I am usually stingy with cutting flowers from my garden for the house as they last longer in the yard, but in your situation, I would take joy in bringing every beautiful bloom inside to share and add cheer.
Thanks Rj, you arre true to your name. We had a good day today. And I spent about an hour cleaning up in the courtyard and watering a few things.
Bunches of peony....even if it did get mashed by the t-storm...to add as well.
Glad you got time to work in your garden today...it will bring peace and relief from stress. It is SO important to take care of yourself...physically and mentally..right now as well as taking care of your Mom.
Blessings......
I like to check in frequently to see how you and mom are doing and to offer encouragement like everyone else. Alas, no pics of flowers here, but think of your favorite and add it to the bouquet.
Big Jersey hugs
I wish for a restful and contented Friday to you both.
Kathy
That was a big beautiful bouquet.
Three of my nieces came out today to visit mom. And also to see my DB who they hadn't seen for years. It was nice. My DB has been away a long time and is happy to be meeting some relatives as adults. We had a good talk.
Took mom out on the front porch in the wheelchair so she could see the courtyard in full growth. She enjoyed it but was too uncomfortable to stay long.
And Donna came over and gave her a bath and washed her hair. Not bad.
So glad both Mom and you and family are being blessed with love and care. Each of the caregivers must take time for themselves as if you do not you can not care for the one you are giving care to.
Our mom had a stroke and for the most part she was OK just nothing mentally at all. Started fires if she got near stove. We had to watch her like a hawk. But I never have been sorry for the time we shared.
Go with blessings all of you
D
Thank you all. Your responces mean a lot. We have had a quiet day. Mom received cards from a granddaughter and a great-grandson today. That made her smile. There is a new baby in the family and she is a great-great
Thinking of you today and sending flowers in my own way - my computer won't let me post a picture here for some reason.
Mom had a really good day. She looked and felt great. She was able to stand firmly and help with the moving. My two sisters came over and we had lunch and gabbed for a few hours.
Cherish those good days. So glad to hear it.
That's wonderful, Patricia!
Pick your favorite color of zinnia. I have some blooming in my garden now.
Happy thoughts coming your way.
Hi and thanks for the additions to the bouquet. Mom is doing fairly well. My DLS came out today to sit with mom while I went to the store. When I got back she went out and deadheaded all the purple rhodies in the front. Looks great. My DB went over to the Spokane area to see friends for a few days. He will be back tomorrow. Mom and I are learning together how to make things easier on both of us.
Patricia your mother sounds like a very special and brave person
I just popped in this forum and saw this...and am adding my prayers to the rest of the great folks here at DG...
Would you like us to send cards to your Mom? I'd be glad to...
I can't praise the work of Hospice enough. They were wonderful when my DH was terminal.
P. S. I used to live in Port Orchard...many moons ago...right on the street facing Bremerton.,
Jo
Thanks roadrunner. My mom lived on Prospect Alley up above the feed store in Port Orchard. My DH's mom lived there until she died and we remodeled and mom moved there in '87. She moved out with me two years and a half years ago.
Thanks Sally, beautiful blossom.
We had a fairly good day today. The RN came and we learned a few more tricks in how-tos. It is getting easier.
Beautiful lily. Peaceful!
I'm so far behind on DG I will likely never catch up, but spotted this thread and want to send my love to you and your mom.
