Swallows are hard! nice shot. I've got barn swallows nesting in the attic of my garage, I've often thought of having DH boost me up there for some shots...

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Nanny do you think they'll nest? have you seen mud being brought in?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Nope...no mud! I was thinking maybe they were checking it out. Don't know if that would be a good thing right there on the front porch!! I see this lttle group around the house quite a bit. So I think they are very close by.

They sure shook up this hummer!! LOL

Nice shot Marna and knip! They do make a racket.

I think possibly because of the number of Grackles I've had this year I have less Starlings.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

ha. nice moon.

Hi duc!! Yes, the swallows coming up on the porch seem to be Barn Swallows. We have Tree Swallows too here. Do they cross breed? This is the only other shot I got the other day.

I love the tummy and moon shots guys!

The dove I found had a Mother but when I found her she was on her side barely alive. Something must have killed her and the other baby, I found a pile of feathers in our front yard. I took the baby in our garage in a big crate with food and water, because we were geting bad storms. I took it out this morning and it flew off.

Joliet, IL

I think swallows are beautiful. How do you attract them in your yard? And what suet do you use for your woodpeckers pell? That is a pretty bird.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Great shot Nanny! Those swallows sure are pretty. We have cliff swallows at our parks, but here at my home we have Tree Swallows in three houses on our deck. There's always a few of the men and juvies sitting on our railings.

Luckie, I'm glad you gave the baby shelter and it was able to fly off later. Do hope it will survive now, at least you gave it a chance.

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

I guess this is why they're called 'Tree Swallows'.

So cute Linth!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

How cute! Wow, do they create a hollow as such?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Love that Goldfinch in the Crabapple tree Burn...so colorful!

Duc...Beautiful Oriole!

Linth...Love that shot!

Here is an Eastern Wood-Pewee that landed in the backyard. At first I thought it was our resident Eastern Phoebe and wondered why she was chasing away any other bird that landed close by!
