I suspect that each of us has particular places that make our hearts sing with the joy of a gardener in his/her element. I have many places like that, and I thought we could share them with each other. This first one for me is my potting shed, Cuppatea, up in our meadow right next to my veggie garden. There is an empty spot here on the porch for me since Molly is no longer in the photo, but I'm working things through and focusing on all the beautiful gifts of flowers and other treasures from friends - many of which came from RUs, etc.. Please share your favorite spots or vistas with us as well....
Show us the spot(s) where your gardener's heart sings!
What a beautiful place you live in!!
Thank you, 3G! It is an old farm, but it has its simple beauty to us!
I agree with Lee Anne - you live in real beauty, Louise. And you have the smarts to appreciate it.
This is the little log cabin that I helped DH build from the trees in our forest 20 years ago. It is down through our woods and was built on the bank of a big beaver pond. He proposed to me on the cabin porch. Hence.....special spot for that reason alone, but we see lots of wildlife from that porch and there are many wild blueberry bushes and wildflowers all around it.
Thanks, Carrie...... Bummer, the log cabin photo didn't come out because it isn't in the right format. I'll see if I can change that.
My ♥ would sing too if my backyard looked like yours Louise.
I actually love my side yard but it's on the other side of the fence, I want to find out from the township if we could move the fence to the front corner of the house just on that side.
I have a kwanzan cherry tree on that side and I put a park bench under it, it's so much cooler on the side of the house, very relaxing...
You can kinda see it here, this was the pic from last year when we first cut down the pear tree that split in half. Hubby is actually right now go to get the stump grinder(finally) maybe now I can plant my shrub line.
Love it, Victor!
Your shed is lovely- I'm so sorry Molly is no longer with you:( I know the loss of a beloved pet can leave such a huge void in our lives.
My garden is really helping me cope with a difficult time in my life. I had something pretty terrible happen to me a few weeks ago and for a while I was so upset that I just wished it was winter again so that I wouldn't have deal with all the sunny, happy days that are supposed to make up summer. I lost all interest in my garden. My mom came up from SC to help take care of me for a while, and when she was here she took care of some of the plantings and things I left unfinished before my surgery. I had big plans for things I wanted to accomplish this Spring, and she made a big dent out there. I could sit outside and listen to my fountain from my deck chair and eventually started to do some light things around the garden and became interested again. It's the only thing that helps take my mind off the sadness right now, and I'm so grateful to have it as an outlet. The spot with the fountain is my favorite. The sound is relaxing, and I like to watch the birds take their baths there.
LOVE LOVE LOVE that fountain!!!
Thanks, Victor! That's YOU alright!!!
Jen - that cherry tree is GORGEOUS! What a wonderful spot for a bench! I think your idea is terrific!
3G - What a peaceful spot! I'd love to see the view you have of your long perennial gardens once they are struttin' their stuff!
Noreaster - I am so sorry to hear that you have been going through a tough, sad time. I hope your world brightens, and I will keep you in my prayers. If I were you, I'd also be spending lots of quiet time near that soothing fountain area. What a lovely place to recuperate.
See - I just knew we all had some pretty places to share! Thanks to you all for sharing them with me and others!
Louise
This is the peaceful view from my chair in the living room, looking past the BBQ/fireplace DH built, up the meadow. This is my theater for all things wildlife. The mommy turkey and her 12-14 babies parade across the stage regularly and the deer answer the casting call on schedule, and even our resident moose made a cameo appearance the day we cooked our very first hamburger on the grill out there on Memorial Day a few years ago.
Convenient for venison BBQ!
Louise, I love your yard! It remindes me of irisMA's , it's very woodsy too.
Louise, you are so eloquent!
Beautiful Sue
Victor ! The pond is special, I love the Fall pix of it too.
Thanks, ladies. Two JM's in that pic.
Hi all. I've been away for almost a week, so it was great fun to see all of these beautiful insights into your special vistas! Wow......this is exactly what I wanted to see in this thread. Being able to share these places of beauty actually gave me some of what you must feel when you look out at your gardens. What fun!
Carrie - eloquent. LOL...but thank you!
Jumper - first, I love your fence and your surrounding properties. Are you in a village setting? We lived in a village for a year and a half and just loved it - especially being able to take great walks anytime. Your gardens are lovely, and those "weeds" didn't affect my appreciation for your setting one bit! All that rain sure brought them out here too!
JoAnn - love your walkway and that wonderful sculpture in your DL bed. That sculpture is a fountain, isn't it? I remember when you first got it - at least I think it is the same one. So cool!
Sue - your first post is a riot. Love your sense of humor! Your backyard is so pretty and inviting. If I were a kid, I'd love playing there too!!
Victor - that pond of yours is amazing! Your choices of plantings around it are so lovely, especially the contrast in colors and shapes of leaves, etc..
I can't wait to see more of these special places!!
Yes Louise, right in the middle of town and across the street from the middle school. The front is sun and the back is shade. I actually took a walk today when the rain stopped.
I'm enjoying this thread. I love all of your special places in your gardens. I've been trying to decide where my favorite places are in my gardens and I guess i like them all. I even like the areas in progress. I get the satisfaction of knowing I'm creating something from nothing and lots hard physical labor for stress relief. Eleanor
