My garden is really helping me cope with a difficult time in my life. I had something pretty terrible happen to me a few weeks ago and for a while I was so upset that I just wished it was winter again so that I wouldn't have deal with all the sunny, happy days that are supposed to make up summer. I lost all interest in my garden. My mom came up from SC to help take care of me for a while, and when she was here she took care of some of the plantings and things I left unfinished before my surgery. I had big plans for things I wanted to accomplish this Spring, and she made a big dent out there. I could sit outside and listen to my fountain from my deck chair and eventually started to do some light things around the garden and became interested again. It's the only thing that helps take my mind off the sadness right now, and I'm so grateful to have it as an outlet. The spot with the fountain is my favorite. The sound is relaxing, and I like to watch the birds take their baths there. |
