What a beauty! Are you switching from Dahlias to Dayliles (gasp)?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I could never give up my beluved dahlias carrie :O

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Daylilies are still blooming copiously. Hibiscus are too.
Carrie, this could well continue until your next birthday~

That would be silly but fun! My hibiscus is looking lovely too!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Here's one of the hibiscus on my standard. It's been covered with flowers for the past week and a half as have the other ones in my collection. One of the few plants that appreciates the water and the heat.

Nice DL, Cousin Nut! Congrats!!!!

Nice hibiscus, GM! I only have one of the hardy type.

I have none, Martha , and yours are quite pretty!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

These are the tropical kind of hibiscus, out of doors for their summer vacation. When I put them out in the spring, it is nearly always too chilly for them so they don't leaf out right away and actually drop a lot of leaves. When the weather warms up, however, they shine!

Droooooooool! Thanks for the picture, Martha. (And for not making me feeling inadequate.)

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

I had my honeymoon in Hawaii, Carrie. These always remind me of it. Meanwhile, my geraniums are blooming like crazy. My son brought me two red ones home from his landscape job. His boss had a couple of extras. Can't wait to pot them up tomorrow.

Here's the vacation bench. Many of these are dwarf. several I bought because of the distinctive foliage. and you can see on the far right my 12 year old 'Vancouver Centennial'

Vacation bench? Explain, please. And how terribly convenient to have a son who's a landscaper! I do like Vancouver Centennial.

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

This is the bench for my indoor plants. Many of these are geraniums of various sorts. Christmas cacti, orchid cacti, hibiscus, bird of paradise, asparagus ferns, etc. everything but the big begonias and the african violets. They come outside to this bench for the spring and summer. Many of them sit on different little chair stands. I have park benches, papasan chairs, wrought iron chairs, all for the plant's vacation!

excuse me, the asparagus ferns, and Dave, the rabbit's foot fern, and a couple of others are way too big for this bench and have their own plant stands.

Ahhhh, I see. How lovely for them!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

That's cool, GM! I like that idea.

Even plants need a vacation once in a while!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I only have one old African violet, Methusala, who is a houseplant. Can you put African violets outside in the summer?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL Methusala, you are so funny, Dnut! I've never had an AV still be alive by summer!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I think Methusala is unkillable cuz any other houseplant I've had has croaked the minute it came in the door.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Ahhhhhh. Does she/it flower?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Constantly even when I forget to water. Maybe it's an android?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Or a tribble.

Here's a pic that I took to share with Phoebes

What a gorgeous AV, Cousin Nut, and that DL is very pretty, too!

Sigh. It's almost enough to want to make me want to take up AVs again. That color of blue-violet!!!
