Yeah, the weather here is misty and cool -- good for sweet peas and lettuce, but not tomatoes. My b-day was nice, though. That's the kind of training choir I teach, but for Boston! The kids love it!!!
Happy birthday Carrie
It was great except what's with all this rain? DH keeps saying "April showers bring May flowers, but what do May showers bring? Weeds." What a beautiful picture, too! Thank you.
June flowers, Carrie, of course! Oh, and the weeds, too! LOL!
Karen
Right, Karen, I'll tell him. He's already off on this year we will win the who has the most mowed lawn contest. Yeah, exactly, in your dreams, dear. What bugs me is that he only mows the parts you can see from the street!
LOLOLOL! Just like the male species! That is too funny!
It's funny but it's true.
I can relate to that, Carrie!
Karen
^_^
Distraction and subterfuge is our goal. While they look away, we disappear more lawn to make more garden beds MWHA HA HA (totally evil laugh)
Um, unless you try to garden and lawn on a hillside! Our total motivation is to turn over as much lawn as possible. I sort of am winning this one.
Martha
I like what's become of mty birthday thread! I'm Carrie, and I approve of this message.
LOLOL! I am a big fan of D+S when clearly indicated!
Good one Carrie ^_^
Carrie,
Very happy & very blated birthday wishes!
I've been off DG for a bit. Seeing I'm too late to wish you a great day, let's go for ahappy birth-month.
David
Yes, my first opened yesterday and today a few more. I don't know what they're called. I think I've been staying out of trouble. I've been trying, man. Tomorrow begins the month of Juning when merry lads are crooning!
Send some merry lads my way, Carrie!
My friend Karen's husband just recently told her not do dig out anymore of the lawn. Do you think she's going to comply with that order.......?
Karen
Er, nooooooo, not really. Do you?
Of course she shouldn't 'dig' but did he mention 'edging'? I 'edge' ALOT.
ROTFLMAO sputter sputter smirk! I snuck some "edging: in just a few days ago -- with any luck it will spread.
A very late, but well intentioned birthday wish, Carrie. Wishing you a wonderful, healthful and productive year as you continue to share your gardening perspective with so many DG members.
I've spent the winter waaaay south of GA and Spring in the mid-Atlantic. Have not kept up with N.E. news. Still, I know that you and other N.E.'esters are the most committed gardeners on DG (don't repeat that down South), and hope the N.E family is enjoying great gardens this season!
Laurel
Great to hear from you, Laurel! I won't breathe a word of what you said about us elsewhere, fear not. (But hey, you NE Forumers, did you read what Laurel said about us?)

Where can you buy some of that "edging", Carrie, I'd like to plant some! LOL!
I like that the edger is littlish so you can hide it against your leg when you're walking by.
LOL!!!!! You guys are just too funny! Yes, she does edge, and yes, her husband does notice and gives her dirty looks and sometimes speaks sternly to here about it. She always tells him that the grass was creeping into the bed, so she had to edge. He never believe her, though.
Karen
I planted some campanula blue clips near the forget-me-not and the balloon flower - hopefully we'll have a year-long succession of blue there (and hopefully it will spread into the lawn). Garden-spreaders unite! We have nothing to lose but our lawns!
I second that! The less lawn to mow the better.
Karen
Love it! Except Sue ... shouldn't there be more flowers and less grass on the front? I like those a lot, though, hehehe.
You're absolutely right, Carrie! Hey, remember that Saturday Night Live skit with Christopher Walken - "More Cowbell"? Well, we need "More Flowers"!
I was JUST watching that last night with my kids!!! Glad you agree, dear.
I LUV the Tshirt. Maybe a bulleye's over the grass with an edger pointed like a weapon at the target? I just happened to do a wee bit more edging yesterday BTW ^_^
I absolutely love the t-shirt, Sue! I want one!
Karen
Great, Cousin Nut!!!!
Lookie!!! It's just a little edging, come on, what's all the fuss about, please? It's not like we ripped out our entire lawn or anything! .... yet ....
That's coming, Carrie! LOL!
Karen
Dahlia, it just miraculously appeared? Overnight? Like mushrooms? LOL!
Or like weeeeeeeeds!
Note: when GRASS grows 6" in 2 days we groan and cut it down. If a perennial grows 6" in 2 days we have a party!!! And which do we grow in the lawn? The grass! Grrrr.
