Very nice nanny!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Thanks everyone, it's so much fun to have them around. Nice to see yours Nanny. great pic. I'm trying to get them in the flowers now. They are so tiny in my crabapple, I really have to search my picture to see where they are.
Here's one example, I had to crop it to find her.

Hi Guys ! I just had to come over and visit you all! I wanted to show you some of my little dive bombers! I get buzzed every after noon by these guys. They arent afraid of anything and will hum right over my head every day. Wish my camera would take better and closer shots but Im only about 4 feet from them here.

There seems to be 3 separate clans, Two ruby throated pops and one greenback with a white throat. So far I have counted up to 10 hummers at one feeder at once.

Your green back with the white throat is the female or a juvie Ruby- throated hummer. Wowsie, what a group, nice. Must be some sight. Dellrose can relate, she gets a whack of them also. I only get a few and have a hard time to get 2 at one sitting.

Doesn't like the competition..

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Burn and Pelle!

Eufaula...cool shots of your Hummer swarm!

Burn...That is a darling shot of your female.

We had a thunderstorm go through tonight just before dark with lots of wind, rain and hail. After the storm I glanced out the front window and all 4 feeders were swamped with Hummers...both male and female. There were about 40-50 and all were eating up a storm (no pun intended)! I hope they all come back tomorrow...I will be up early to watch for them.

Here's a male from the other night.

Gorgeous!!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

oh, are you kidding me? 40-50? *sobs*

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

Dellrose must be the hummer whisperer! I haven't seen any in a couple weeks. Hope they are nesting.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Gee...we had a storm too, all I got was 2 hummers...no pics and hostas torn to shreds by the hail...Humph! :(

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Burn!

Yes...there was a swarm of them...I guess from the storm?

This morning there are about 15 so far!!

We lost a few branches Nanny but that's about all I hope!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

They're baaaack!! They must have been feeding on flowers and insects but since the storm last night and the 59 degree temp today they are all at the feeders!

OMG! LOL Rose! How many feeders do you have up?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I have 7 feeders up and they are all very busy! Last night they were at least half full and I had to refill most of them a little while ago. A few are being guarded so not many can use them. The little male with the injured beak has been guarding his fiercely and is looking very healthy (relief)!!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

OH MY STAR!!!, Rose, Must be and 8hrs job, just looking after, all the birds in your yard.:)

Dixon, IL(Zone 5a)

40-50 hummers at once. Once upon a dream..... LOL I have one little lone male again since Sunday.

The wrens were fun to watch tonight though. Chasing each other around like crazy and my 5 year was soooo excited because one touched the sleeve of her shirt as they were going by. She was putting the hummer feeder back up with fresh nectar. She can reach both hummingbird feeders and the oriole feeder and is quite the helper now. the orioles are still eating jelly like crazy!!

Very cute nanny!

Oquawka, IL(Zone 5a)

Cute Hummingbird story, but no pictures! I took a freshly filled hummingbird feeder out to hang up this afternoon. Before I could hang it up a small male landed and just sat there and drank! I couldn't believe how long he sat and drank. I could see my camera sitting on the table inside, but had to be content to just stand there and let him drink :-)

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL...been there...it is so sweet but you want that camera soooo bad!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

ha. too funny! Wish I could say I have that experience. 3 feeders, no hummers. sigh.
