Beware of fake Bad Angel on Ebay

Dunedin, FL

The Bad Angel being offered on Ebay Item #180350276498, it is not a Bad Angel it is false, he is showing a picture of something else but never a Bad Angel. Here is his picture of Bad Angel as shown on Ebay, he is also showing the same picture on Sophie. will this Gentlemen ever stop fooling people? I feel sorry and just want to warn unsupecting buyers.

Shame on him!! I saw it and thought it was a fake. Thank you you for confirming!

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 6b)

"Gentlemen" is giving him too much credit!

He is an outright liar and thief. He has been notified, and counseled, encouraged, and yet still goes on selling brugs that are altered and/or obviously not the real thing.

I feel sorry for the newbies that may be buying from him.

He will eventually get his. What goes around ALWAYS comes around!

and this "Gentleman" takes other people's photos. I recognized this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/BRUGMANSIA-DR-SEUSS-SALE-SALE_W0QQitemZ220420655611QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item33521849fb&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A50
and a few belonging to other DG members. This one I believe is Gary's photo.

You're always better off buying from a reliable source. There are some sellers on there that are honest and I have gotten nice named plants from them that were what they said they would be. I also have gotten one that wasn't.

Palm Coast, FL(Zone 9a)

not that I am defending this particular seller, however, there are some dealers on ebay (not just those selling plants) that will use a generic pic for every auction. NOW, if he is claiming that those pics are the actual plant, then he is grossly misleading buyers, but if he isnt AND if he states in his auction that the pic is not a representation of a plant, he may just be using it to have a pic to place in the ad. If he fails to mention this at all in his add, then he probably needs to be reported to ebay for fraud. If he is using photos that do not belong to him, he could also be reported for copyright violation as well.

This seller has 2 user names he sells under. I bought plants from him 2 years ago and when they bloomed they were not even the right color! NEVER AGAIN! I buy from reliable people now that have proven themselves with quality plants.
Please be careful buying from ebay unless you are familiar with the seller.

Can't this person be turned into ebay for false advertising to stop this?

(dana)Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

only the buyers can and or the person who he stole the pic from. they buyer wont find out till its to late . they cant renege good feedback . and if the person who he stole the pic from comes forward ,ebay may make him take the photo down . he would then ,im sure steal another .there was the same problem on the iris forum . a seller had 2 names and was selling any ol rhizomes and stealing the pics from a reputable iris farm. everyone hands are tied . ebay has gotten such a bad name .

Nashville, TN(Zone 7a)

Mistressgardenr,

I'm definitely a "newbie" to brugmansias. Could you let me know what those two Ebay names are I should avoid?

Also - what Ebay sellers are reputable? I'm quite overwhelmed with the many brugs. offered out there and I could use all the help I can get from those of you who are experienced growers and purchasers.

Thanks so much! :)

Brookhaven, PA(Zone 6b)

One of his names is 7servant7, I can't remember the other one right now.

One of the best, reliable, honest sellers right now is countrygardens (JTSessions).

JT is wonderful, and you can't go wrong with xeriscape8321 (Gary). :-)
Both top notch sellers.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

One to stay away from : Besides selling as 7servant7, he sells as angelsgarden2. He also enhances his photos. Here's an example of what he does:

I have never bought from greenleafgardens, but I woud be leery of buying from a seller who uses someone else's photos.

Another reputable and top notch seller is Liz (gordo) who sells as arghyagardens.

Nashville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks so much for the advice. I wish I had known about DG and all of you helpful people long ago! It would have saved me a lot of agony
:(

Onalaska, TX

I recently bought some brugs from JT and what wonderful plants I received. Thanks bettydee for the info on angelsgardens2, I was planning on buying his Audrey O.. Guess I don't need it that bad.

I have bought from the reputable Sellers mentioned and was not disappointed, but would also like to add a Seller that is also absolutely reputable and trustworthy, also a member of DG as the other reputable sellers mentioned by some of the members, it is Alice (Abutilon ) of www.karcheskycanna.com, she is beloved1 on Ebay.

If you look at posts from a couple a days ago to you may see the real Bad Angel Alice recently sold also on Ebay, she is also the Seedparent of Monika Gottschalk's cross out of Fandango x Rubirosa and i had the privilege to receive the first plant and name this Beauty which turned out to be a continuous bloomer even in Floridas hot and humid climate.

See the Picture of my Bad Angel from Alice!

I too bought from 77 and Adeline just bloomed...............it's Zena i wonder what the other 5 are. I too checked his e-bay and he has the same photo for different brugs.

Jacksonville, FL

Who is Greenleafgardens? I have seen some brugs on ebay that he has and do not know if that might be another of 7s7's names. I have bought from JT, Gary, Alice, Eddie, Liz and Fred with excellent results---I steer clear of the others.
I miss Brenda though! Hope she starts selling again one day soon

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

If I'm not mistaked 77 used to use the name "God's Garden", if he's the gentleman from the New Orleans area. He's claims to be a pastor. God's Garden used to be a member on Garden Web, and may still be. I traded him a few brugs years ago, as did Little Cajun Lady.

Alice, J.T., and Gary sells wonderful, healthy brugs. Another lady "Little Cajun Lady" out of Glenmore area, sells the older named brugs once or twice a year. You get just what you bid on from these 4 sellers.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes, Cannagirl, that is what I know about him, too.
He seemed to start out decent. Makes you wonder what happens to some people?
Thanks for your kind words :-)

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Your welcome Alice.....but it's only the truth. You, Gary, J.T., Little cajun Lady are the best....also I'd like to add Brenda's name to that list. Does anyone know if she started back selling her brugs yet?

I miss Brenda too...

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

I talked to Brenda yesterday. I very much doubt that she will get back to selling until or if the economy picks up. She might sell here and there on EBay...mostly seeds and *maybe* cuttings if any plants are "cuttable". She is VERY fussy about what she sells...I too hope she will some day re-open the nursery. I absolutely LOVED working for/with her!!!

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Thanks Ginger for the update on Brenda. The last brugs I ordered from her arrived in 4 boxes, and most of the brugs were over 4 & 5 ft. tall! I lost Lady Liberty and several others I'd purchased from Brenda this past winter. I'd love to purchase more as soon as she reopens.

I know you had to enjoy working with her :) I met her in FL. last year, or maybe the year before. Very lovely person, and never a dull moment around her.

Many of us have just a little bit of Brenda in our gardens...

Yes even here in Australia ...I am sad to hear this news ...hopefully things will improve and she will be back.Wouldn't we all love to talk to her?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

actually the pic of Dr. Suess is mine stolen from right here at Daves Garden. Look at my home page

not from Daves but from my webshots albums

Donna, do you know who has taken photos of their Brugs with a hill (mountain?) and body of water in the background? Many of those photos appear in one of the Brug groups we aren't supposed to mention. Those same photos have appeared on e-bay, sometimes cropped, but the hill and water in the background can still be seem. Greenleafgardens uses many of those. Seems to take them right off the gallery.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

here is his response to e-Bay letter I sent to him
Dear 1birdylady,

I*'m sorry, What picture are you referring to. My computer crashed and I lost most of my pictures. I used a few from catalogs but did not intend to steal anything. Can I send you one of the plants to make up for it and I will discontinue the picture.
- greenleafgardens

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Donna your photo of Dr. Suess is beautiful. Love the orange color.

Is greenleafgardens the same person as God's Garden & 7servant7?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

don't know. I don't buy brugs off e-Bay

Nashville, TN(Zone 7a)

DonnaB -

OMG! I'm new to Brugs and this board and I was looking for Dr. Seuss as a possible first brug purchase. I just saw the link for your Dr. Seuss photo and YES - I have seen that photo many times on Ebay!

grrrrrrrrr

Middleton, TN(Zone 7a)

OMG, NOW what do I do?? Should have read this thread earlier!!

I just bought from 7servant7 tonight cause I had no idea, still pretty new to brugs. I have not paid yet but I can not get out of paying once I commit to it??

What should I do ?? Luckily it was only $28.00 so I will not be out a lot , but I would like to at least get the correct brugs as labeled , even if they are not in great shape or very big.
I wonder could I write him and sortof hint that the gig is up , so maybe if he has the correct brugs .. he will send the right ones and not try to do me dirty ? What do you all think ?? I looked at his feedback and it was good ...like 99.7%... How does that happen ?

HELP, Sharon

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Sharon. Go ahead and make good on your bid so you don't mess up your feedback. I ordered plants(not brugs) from 7S7 years ago and they healthy but he ripped me on the postage and he is only about 2 hrs from me. Said he combined S&H but only took like $1 per auction off postage. He made 15 dollars off me on postage but now you can complain to e-Bay for excessive postage and they will get them. I guess what you all need to do is print out the auction page showing the plant and if you end up with the wrong one file a complaint with e-Bay. If a seller gets a lot of complaints e-Bay will kick them off. They have really cracked down on the sellers doing wrong to the customers

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Sharon, have you ever tried to leave negative feedback on e-Bay? I bought what should have been a grafted persimmon tree. Paid $20.00 for shipping as well and received an 8" seedling. After trying to get my money back or the grafted plant without success, I tried leaving negative feedback. There were so many hoops to jump through before that can be done that I gave up. That's how they wind up with favorable feedback.

The problem with dealing with someone who doesn't always send out what you bought, is that you won't know what you have until it blooms, weeks or months into the future. By then it is usually too late to have e-bay do anything about it. As for contacting 7servant7, it doesn't hurt to try to contact him, but since you haven't received anything yet don't accuse him prematurely of trying to do you dirty. Sometimes that just provokes a person into doing exactly what you are trying to avoid.

Watertown, NY

Humm, Liz from Brugmansia ETC in British Columbia has wonderful pictures with hills and a body of water in the back ground of many of her pictures. I love to go look at them. I wonder if someone has used her pictures.

Check out

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Brenda, I located greenleafgarden on ebay to look at the photos.....he's taken most off, although he is still using Donna's photo of Dr. Suess as of yesterday. Could have been some of Liz's pictures.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes! I recognized the background as soon as I saw one of Liz's photos in the link provided by Brenda. You can see the background even in the cropped photos. He also has (had?) one of Kell's photos up.
