We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/989420/

Frozen in Time is fast becoming my favorite! I am going to let it finish this round of budding, then I'll disbud for a few months so it can concentrate on new leaf growth.

This is a pic of my baby Ramblin' Sunshine. I'll probably remove the blooms on this one this weekend too, so it can concentrate on leaf growth.

Well, you know, I'm thinking the pictures I'm posting tonite will most likely all have the blooms removed . . .

Ohhh, thanks for the Spring Cardinal pic...saw it on the Lyndon website, but they only show a leaf and a flower. That is one I want for my mother. She is the person I credit for my love of plants and gardening, and for my life, she is the best mother anyone could have, and has stood by me and helped me no matter how lousy and rotten of a kid I was!!

She loves AV's. And cardinals. I thought it would be a good one to get her.

Closing it out for the day with Azure Giant.......giant blooms to say the least. David Thompson.
Goldleaf crossed this one with a variegated strep and I am getting to help grow out seedlings............

Thanks all. Gessiegail described this plant as "almost always blooming" and she hit it right on the mark. I cut back the bloom stalk when it got here (the flowers didn't survive the trip) and it sent up another in short order. Followed by another, and now a new one is coming.

Oh I am SO hooked!! LOL!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

good for you, Planti!!! When you get ready for leaves to try, let me know...........it is so addicting..........

I made some mistakes on the names.........going back and editing them.........

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Lovely pictures (as always) Gail!!
Jan,Lin posted yesterday I think. She said her swimming pool had overflowed, but she was okay.I don't know after that.

(Zone 1)

Hey everyone, we are fine here, saw sunshine today for the first time in ten days. Our area had 24" of rain! We've never had a problem with flooding in our house, I guess our lot is high enough that the water drains off well, but some neighborhoods had major flooding with water breaching homes, and some of the people affected don't even have insurance.

The city opened a shelter on Friday and it filled up so quickly they had to open two more! The news says this was not even considered a tropical system and that we received more rain with this than we did with the 2004 Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne combined! Those three hurricanes all hit within a six week period.

Today was a beautiful sunny day and I spent the entire day doing yard work. Our next door neighbor's lawn mower broke so I mowed their lawn too. Weather says we have 60%-70% chance of rain through the rest of the week. Sure hope we don't get too much more. The area needs to dry out with tropical storm and hurricane season starting June 1st!

I'm loving all these beautiful photo's of your Strep blooms!

Hi All,
I have been in a rotten mood lately so I have stayed away....LOL My plants are doing awful because of my moods.. We have had allot of rain here on and off and tonight when I was watering my streps I found ants in one of my trays/plant anybody have any ideas how to evict them? This is a first for me.. We get ants in the house from time to time but these look like they like where they are and intend to stay.... I also chopped all my kohlerias down as they were way to tall. I have what looks like allot of worms in them I am happy to say...
Lin, glad you are alright... We have had allot of rain here lately, nothing like you but to much for me as I am in the bottom of the hill and on a high water table to boot. We are almost swimming....LOL
I just thought of something... They say if you put salt around things that ants will eat it until they pop I wonder how I can salt around my trays... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....LOL
Ok going to bed soon here as I am tired...
Hugs,
Susan

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Susan - I hope you're feeling better! We've missed you! I've read that ants do not like chalk, so maybe if you draw a circle around your trays with a piece of chalk? I know when I used to go camping, they would put ajax powder around the tents . . . don't know how that would work around your plants, though.

Nichole
^_^

diatomaceous earth sprinkled around is supposed to deter them and is safe for the environment, and for us
