nanny, the hummers are going crazy here right now. I was thinking it would be June before they started drinking so much nectar! Here is a pic i took of a fluffed up female hummer. She almost looks like another species of bird! LOL

This little wren got my attention with its loud voice. it seems to be saying "I may be small but I'm loud and I'm sitting tall at the top of this pole!"

Wonderful photos. Gorgeous Bluebirds, Frank.

I took this shot of a Singing Honeyeater in Bougainvillea a couple of weeks back. I just love the combination of rich colours. The blue in the background is the river.

Frank, just love those 2 shots of fledglings.
CBL, If the purple Martin are investigating, that dwelling, there's a good chance they'll take up residence. I hope so for you.
Nanny, saw my first Gray Catbird yesterday. What a strange sound they make. Very unique.

And then a Cedar Waxwing showed up. Actually, three showed up, but only one brave enough to come down for a drink.

Margaret, super shot, love the colors as well.
Adel, do you put sawdust or shavings on the floor of their house? Seen a lot of them yesterday, but never could get a picture. They were too busy catching bugs, over the river.

This American crow, was waiting for some scrap of food.

Is Mrs Red Belly much smaller than the male or is it the angle of the picture?
Oh that Cedar Wax wing is so beautiful. they don't evenlook real to me. Always like they should be made of fine china!!

Off topic - I have no idea what I did, but now both my print and even the pictures are about 1/2 the size that they have always been. Does anyone have any advise?? Please dmail me if so...

Check your settings on the camera. Most allow you to shoot in a number of Megapixel settings. There's an email setting and up to your highest MP.

Might be the angle, also possible it is a young one. There were three Woodpeckers on the pole before I took the pic. There is still at least one baby in the nest, because Mom keeps taking beakfuls of suet with her.

Doesn't he look nice, by the pond. It looks so natural, and inviting.

That is such a nice pic I wish I could make a set to change every once in a while for desk top choices. I have changed it twice and hate to keep losing the great shots. Is there any way of saving a pic that one really likes?

burn.............no sawdust, but next year I'll give it a try.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Right-click on a picture, and you'll get a menu as on the pic below (or something similar), go down to "Save Image As", left-click on that, and it'll be saved in your folder "My Pictures"

Thanks, burn2007, I hope you're right about the Martins. She did another fly-by today, to, so I hope she's giving it something serious thought. This is the second year I've had this house up with no tenants! ;))

Why do all the little brown birds hide in the shrubs so I can't see the makrings?

Marlton, NJ

Iris, Do you have a pair of binoculars? If so I would stay inside and wait till they feel comfortable enough to come out so you can see the markings.

South Hamilton, MA

We have several pair, however can't weed & look at the same time. Have to learn more calls & tell the noisy cardinal to hush up.

2 pics of immature American Robins. Not that great but shot from a long ways off across the length of the neighbors roof.
