Oh yeah!
We all had a great time, you residents live in a beautiful part of a beautiful state!

As usual, our collective opinion is that DG people are the best anywhere! Cream of the crop! There are a couple ways of knowing folks; One by reputation, (what other people in the world say about you); and two, by character, (what your closest friends and God know about you). Very rarely do we meet so many in one place in which those two things match. We are talking about some real down to earth people!

Enjoyed meeting ones only known by a screen name before! So nice seeing everyone!

Thank you to Phyllis, Karen, David, and everyone who worked so hard pulling together another perfect picnic! Thank you to all who pulled up their promises. I only came home with a few plants, but I love them!!
Thanks Josephine, AJ, Smock, Becky. sweezel and whoever left the bamboo windchimes on my 'area'.

Still wondering who wound up with the 1qt. bagged pot with duct tape on the bottom. I am not sure the plant was marked with it's identity. Just wanted the one who got it to know what it is. It's a 2 year old Asclepias incarnata, a native perennial swamp milkweed and larval host for Monarch and Queen butterflies.

Trishann, Let me know how the chicks fit in, and if they are roo or hen, what you name them, etc. Lynea's kids named theirs Wompa and Slippers, LOL!

Nice to see you again Dave, and finally meet you Trish, and the awesome/adorable kids ! of course! If you ever need anything we can get for you from over this way, let us know. Especially when you really dig in to the new place. Just say the word! We so appreciate what you started here Dave :-S.

The two DKs in Sylvia's post are Jackie and Kirby, my 2 middle kids.

Nearly grown! They sure love coming to the round-ups. And so does Ben, the youngest.

Thanks for taking pics Sylvia!

Hugs applaudes to all!

Love the pics. A good time was had by all. I'm glad everyone got home safe and sound. It poured for about half an hour when I got home. I'm glad to see that storm missed you all. I had to leave earlier than I wanted to because of a tired grandbaby and a fence I had to put in for my mom's new dog. Baby got a nap and I finished the fence about 5pm.

I love everything I got but my fav has got to be the bat face cuphea fron ANJ. I can't get over how that flower really does look like a bat face, nose and all. The stepping stone from Raven is adorning my entryway with it's brightness. Thanks to all.

If those of you who made one of those delectable dishes we ate would check out the thread I started for recipes, I know there are many who would appreciate it. I'm going camping next week and would love to make some of those dishes.

How did your parents trip to the Rio Grand Valley go this year? I take it you are still driving the school bus.

Hey James glad you popped in here was just going to dmail you
How are you doing???

Yes I am still with Tyelr ISD as a team leader but we will leave that at that

My folks had a good trip and DH and I went down for a couple days and went into Mexico with them and drove past where you get the oranges but they were closed that day but my folks had gotten some and mailed them to me before we went down.
picked grapefruit off the trees next to where they stay and went to the flea market.

Longview, TX

All right I'm glad you went with them. I know they enjoyed that and you got to see a different part of the State and also you got a first hand experience in organized pan handling in Progresso, Mexico. I buy a lot of medicine there although recently I've heard there's been some robberies so I'm not going accross except when the winter Texans are there because there/'s so many of then at once time I think it's safer. I'm doing ok. Radiation and chemo treatments were finished in mid March and the doctor told me thursday week ago that the cancer is gone. I'm still a little week because I lost 40 pounds but I'll gain it back. It's just hard to work in the yard because I've got a cathater and it's hard to bend over to plant stuff. Hopefully in two or three months I'll get rid to it. Did your standing cypress made it. It should be close to blooming. I had to go to Kerrville and we alwys pass though Betram. There's hundreds of the growing along the railroad tracks. I'm trying to get my wife to go there and also the ajoining town of Burnet Texas. There's a river barge ride that you can take when the bald eagles are down. I've heard there are 50 to 100 eagles there on the shoreline feeding and playing and I'd like to see that.

James, I didn't know you have been sick Bless you. I am glad to hear that you are better now and hope you will be like new again soon.
You should see the giant coneflowers you sent me, they are blooming now, I will have to post a picture.
At least I haven't killed everything you sent me, the Beebrush is doing great also.
I hope Phyllis is not a Standing Cypress killer too.
Josephine.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Yeah it is different down there and the snowbirds sure take things over by the looks of it LOL
I'm glad to here the good news about the cancer being gone

2 out of the three are alive two had gotten rather tall and the neighbors dog decided to water it and burnt it to death so there are two alive one is tall and the other one is short
Dh put a "cage" around each one to try and protect hem more so we will see what happens now

Did any of the sassafras I gave you make it???

Longview, TX

Phyllis
No, the sassafras didn't make it. I'm zero for 8 on those seedlings.

Longview, TX

Josephine
When you mentioned the possibility that Phyllis could a a standing cypress killer like you my heart turned cold. Surely, surely mother nature would not let something like that occur. Incidently, now's the time to travel between Bertum and Llano. All along the railroad tracks you'll see the standing cypress in full bloom. I love that sight every year.
Jameso

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

James, I will pot you up some sassafras and get it going for you. I won't do it until winter and it will be potted and growing next April or May whenever we have our RU. I have had good luck digging it in the winter. I will do several to be certain you get a well rooted one growing. They really don't like to be transplanted. It can be done though.

I love the standing cypress. I had to look it up. Now all I need is a reason to travel so I can dig a few for the yard.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

James.. sorry you hear about your illness, but so happy things are looking well for you!! I offered at the RU a sassafras that I had overwintered from last fall in the GH and you were the one I was thinking of when I offered it..LOL.. I'll also start some and maybe between Phyllis, Charlene and I ... we can get you some!!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Believe it or not the Sassafras I got from Phyllis is doing great and ready for those butterflies at the Fielder house, and the one i got from Becky is doing great at my house too.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

YAY Josephine!! That is great.. so it shows it can be done!!..LOL

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)
