This is kind of a neat effect, a chocolate plant growing in the center of a firecracker plant.

Good morning RJ & all! What was that about age & 39??? Are we missing a few there????? It's Mother's Day and I'm a mom; where is my pink flower????? LOL

I do love the chocolate plant in the firecracker plant. Was that an accident??? I know I have had chocolate plants coming up in other pots and in the cracks of the cement patio. It looks cool. Tree ferns still looks good today so keep those fingers crossed.

Happy Mom's Day to all the moms and grandmothers! Have a wonderful day!

As a matter of fact, someone had a machete...must have chopped some years off.!

Yes..that was an accident..they come up all over the place, but I love each and every one of them.

Rj, what a nice present for Mothers Day, a new thread with lovely pictures, thanks.
I do not have any chocolate plants. (hint)
This is Pride of Barbados making her debut.

candela, thanks for showing your Clerodendrum Pagoda. I have a little one that I bought from the marketplace last year, so far it is looking good.
I have a Bromeliad that is fixing to bloom soon too, it sure is a exciting time of year.

joeswife, Happy Mother's day to you too.

phughes, Happy Mothers Day. This is the only pink that I have blooming today, and it is too tall to get a good picture. But it is pink.

Very pretty pink plumie, Rita. Thank you!

You guys have posted some really nice things.

RJ what is that snowbank bush? Just white foliage no flowers right?? I like that. It's really pretty.

Here's another picture of pink justica with all the blooms fully open. I love this plant. This is the prettiest it has ever bloomed.

Plumerias are starting to bloom. Here's the first one, possibly Plumeria 'Celadine'. It has a wonderful fragrance.

Golden cestrum bought at Zone 9 Tropicals during Houston plant shopping trip; first bloom.

Patty - I think your plumeria is 'Lemon Chiffon' - very sweet lemon scent?
Do some of the leaves have 'strings' of gold colored spots on the edge?

I had to run out and check; I didn't think they did; since I had my camera right there I snapped a picture.

I think this is daylily 'Prairie Blue Eyes', but I also had one other purple daylily that I might be getting it mixed up with. I do believe I need to move this daylily since it is being covered up by the yellow bells.

yellow NOID day lily

I do so love this time of year when so many things are starting to bloom!!!!!

Thumbnail by phughes

OK that is an 'inconclusive' on the leaves. But somehow the bloom looks more like Lemon Chiffon than Celadine to me.

Here is Celadine. Much firmer less floppy bloom.

Do you have a picture of the Lemon Chiffon? I wish you could smell it through the computer; that would probably be a determining factor. I just don't know how to describe it, but it is heavenly smelling.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

yes..it's a small shrub..this one has an unusual amount of white..

Still kind of working on this...kind of long...may edit

I posted Lemon Chiffon above in post 6531521

Gosh Hetty I don't have a clue now. I guess it will stay a NOID. I sure do like the smell though. It's sweet and fresh.

That's a great article RJ; love all the vine pictures; I wouldn't change it. I finally have my first unopened bloom on the malay rubber vine, but only one.

I'm having zone envy! :)

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

So Patty, is this too common for you now!? Or shall I make some cuttings when I trim it?
I think of you every time I see these big pink flowers!

Nothing in God's kingdom is common. So many of the beautiful things in my garden are gifts from Randy. Was afraid that many would not live through the winter but it was for nought. I think everything came up this spring. Thrills my soul. Getting time for a visit with my friend.

If we can only post tropicals on this thread, I'm in trouble cause I've been posting things that are definately not tropicals. LOL Go ahead and kick me off guys, but I'll come back and haunt you in another life. (JJ)

That is so pretty. I've never tried peonies cause I don't think they will grow in my zone but I sure like them. Yours is so gorgeous and PINK, my favorite color!!

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)
