Note to self, gotta plant some blue flax around the base of those Alliums- the foliage is ugly, and they'd look so pretty arising from a cloud of blue!
I don't know if these would be considered a bulb plant, but bulb companies sell them, so good enough I guess, LOL. Eremerus (Foxtail Lilies) in the front yard beds:
Spring Bulbs - What's Blooming VI
tabasco..in CA at my first house (zone 8) I had Arum with red/orange blooms. The stuff was everywhere and hard to get rid of. I am not sure what variety it was as it came with the house, but I stay clear of it now for that reason.
gemini..beautiful foxtails.
Gosh..I can't think of the name of these blue flowers...but I believe I planted some tiny bulbs.
Gemini, Those Eremerus are beautiful. I planted some "Cleopatra" last fall but they must have become vole food!
Beahive, they are very pretty. Arum seems to do that in Sandy soils. My friends in Jersey avoid it like the plague, but it is very well behaved here. The clumps expand about 6" around every year. It does not pop up anywhere away from the clump.
It is a martagon lily.
That arum italicum is just horrible to try to get rid of, at least here in Z8. Round Up doesn't phase it. I have dug and picked and dug and picked but you can never get all of the little chips out of the soil. I really regret ever planting it. Maybe it is better behaved in colder zones...
Thank you, Pardalinum!
It could be the temperature. South Jersey is zone 7. I'm in zone 6. No one here seems to have a problem with the Arum. The orange berries are wonderful and it is so nice to see those hugh green leaves sticking out of the snow. Sorry it's such a nuisance for you.
The problem is only if you ever want to get rid of it like I did (still do!). And it's not that I don't think that it is an attractive plant (I do). That winter foliage is great. But it has taken over some lilies and is heading for my perennial asters now so I would rather it would go away!!
OK just to spin things a tad a few pics of my spring bulbs. YES due to late freeziness it is still spring for some of the bulbs in Cowtown LOL. To be honest, the early tulips, chionadoxa and squill are finished. The daffs and mid/late tulips are still going though. I thought I'd just post a little pic history of all specially for you southern folks that are moving into the heat now. Kay? Here we go. Fell free to breeze on by it you're not feeling springish ^_^ K? Are you game and ready? It all started with the croci as you remember, since I posted these before I won't dwell on them but I thought I'd start with them.
Beautiful pic's of all your bulbs. I am kinda glad you had a late spring..makes the bulb season last a little longer for the rest of us. Mine are gone with the exception of the dutch iris. Sure miss them and hate waiting for the die back on the leaves. :(
Dahlianut, Your bulbs are so beautiful! I love the deep blue of those first crocus. I'm "nuts" for your blue Anemones!! The tulips Stripapa are so pretty! Please share your spring here. It is so refreshing!
What a shame. It's such a beauty!
