Please help id this bug

Broomfield, CO

It came from a garden in Denver, Colorado. It has six legs, no antenna, two large wings and two very small wings. It's got a tan body with black specs on it and a brown head, with a small dot of tan before the mouth starts. Head bends down from body at a sharp angle of about 75 degrees or greater. Legs are covered in fuzz. It can fly. Its about 5/8 inch to 3/4 inch long, about the same as a dime.

Have never seen these in my garden before. I grow giant pumpkins and I am worried about my young plants being eaten.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I don't know what it is but it kind of looks like a water bug of some sort.

Sinks Grove, WV

This beetle is in the family Scarabaeidae, a very large family that for the most part are neutral to beneficial in human terms, but that unfortunately also includes many plant pests, such as rose chafers, Japanese beetles, 'white grubs,' etc. You can see some economically important Colorado species at http://tinyurl.com/r7jpqo; your specimen does not appear to match any of them.
