Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

For a minute I thought your true love peed on your bush! Thank goodness I just had no idea about pee colored stain! lol

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

LOL - that's where i went when i first read it!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Ha ha I was looking for dead stuff! : )

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I hope you guys meant shrub!

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Rotfl I knew you'd find humor in that!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Tee hee. Well you know while I was typing about this wonderful project it rained on the pee. Ya it hasn't rained in forever and yes tonight it rained on the pee. I'm not even going to look til tomorrow to see what kind of Picasso pee I might have now.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, poor pee stained fence!

Karen

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I'm hoping for a Van Gogh. Imagine the pee fence could be like 'Pee Fence with Iris'. Geesh the museums will fight over it for sure. Or it could just be a rained on pee fence. Personaly I'm hoping for the Vincent.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Vincent it will be, then!

Karen

Vincent Price - now thats scary. My hair used to be a true blonde, almost white. Then went to ash blonde. Now I am dirty ash blonde, with white and grey with split ends.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

I am chestnut. again...

Sherrie - I have Meconopsis pods that should soon produce small treasures. I will let you know as soon as they begin the dance.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well due to serious rain delays our week on the patio project ended with a beach. We did get the conduit for the electrical buried and the step done and the most of the sand spread. Note: I made the flat spots with dahlia feets when I was dancing in the rain on the beach. I was having an Annette Funicello moment ^_^

I thought I saw Frankie's footprints in there too.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Moon Doggie o baby o baby sigh.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

Baron Von Zipper?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Whose its? Baron Von Zipper? I'm clueless. Is he a go go dancer? Is he a beach party kinda guy? Inquiring minds need to know all the details.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I see six toes, dnut - congrats!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

PSHAW Victor! Those would be 2 perfect exactly 10" uniform 5-toed dahlia feets which kick butt over measuring in that other guys feets (whoever he is). ps 6 toes would be cool though.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My grandfather, the longshoreman, had a co-worker who had six fingers on each hand. Guess what they nicknamed him? Twelve!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Very funky weird but cool.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

too funny

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I goofed. It's Eric Von Zipper. Leader of The Ratz motorcycle gang in all those beach movies.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I remember him now. Thanks Dave47.

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

I guess I promoted him to a Baron!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, sounds like a character from a Stephen King novel.

Cousin Nut, looking good!

Karen

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Annette and Frankie.....sigh!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well after a delay of game due to rain we're back at. DH got this very nifty tamping machine to tamp down the sand. We both agreed that it was best if I didn't drive it as it might run amok. So after tamping we heading to the stone guy and FINALLY decided on our stone 'Three Rivers'. I actually like it piled in front of this bed so I might redo the front of this bed in it too!

While DH was making a second run for stone I laid a few to get a feel for how they would look with the lilac foundation. I'm liking it ^_^

Dnut - that is looking very nice. I hope to get my rock order soon, but then I'll want to play with them for days. Arranging, rearranging, editing, shifting, tweaking...This is one of those activities I really enjoy, but will probably put me in the chiropractor's office a few times. I wish the 2-man rocks weren't so heavy. I need 2-lady rocks!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh yeah, Dahlia!! That is a great pick! What a great project!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I hear you Katye. Our original choices were both 1" which I can tote and probably shot put but with a bad back I wasn't able to tote alot of big 2" which was our final choice. I feel bad cuz DH also had to dig out all the clay himself because of my back sigh. Tee hee I AM playing with them! DH thinks they should be spaced closer together than in this pic. Okie dokie with me. More playing ^_^

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

yes- closer. This = more rocks to play with!
The color is quite nice.
I will purchase the oh-so-neutral grey rocks that ooze personality! Rock here is pricey. I found some beautiful colours, but passed due to the price. I need tons of them: retaining walls, and large ones for stabilizing some sloped area. I will pay to have the biggies placed.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Be careful, Dahlia! You can weaken your back without your knowing it's happening, and then one day, BAM! You're in spasm!!

Southern, CT(Zone 6a)

D'nut, Looking good!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks Donnie B for caring. I often cheat and pay. I blew my back as a catcher. Wild throw from a weinerbrain shortstop. Jumping that high in the air and landing like a pretzel blew my lower back muscles forever. Of course the important thing is that I caught the ball and outed the guy (tee hee) My DH is a constant nag (kiss, kiss) about me doing things I shouldn't and moved all the littler stones to the front of the truck bed first so I wouldn't be tempted to err in my ways and haul bigger stones.

Kayte I blinked a little at the cost too! But actually these are local rocky mountain rocks so relatively reasonable on the rock price scale. It is pricey though for sure. The way I figure it though is it's permanent so a one time cost. You must have some local colourful local rocks on your side of the big rocks though I would think??? I lived in Vancouver BC but didn't hardscape so I don't know.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks Dave47. I'm excited about our project ^_^

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

yes - very lovely rocks in various colours with striations and sparklies. As far as amortizing the cost over the life of the completed project, it's a no-brainer. I wanted to hardscape about 20 years ago, but since "someone else" doesn't worry about hydrology & slope erosion, it maintained a low-priority status. Well, we have some erosion problems now & they are going to be addressed by the Staff of One.
Rocking provides interesting challenges as a functional art form, too. And the maintenance is NONE!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

AND rocks are prettiful ^_^ I still can't get over our 'city sidewalk' hardscaping that they did on our lot when the house was built. Maybe it was trendy at the time? Eeeeeewwwww.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

dnut that is going to look great!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks wha ^_^
