Holly's?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

JoAnn, I don't work Mon or Thurs, so maybe I'd run into you then.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

the patio is done! added the walkway today - looks like it is small - trust me it was a pain - had to dig down a foot through hard clay and stone - and then take down the whole blue stone wall i left up last year to find two good pieces - now all that i need to do is build the lattice screen for the foundation - and then get back to the great wall project - after spreading mulch, lots of mulch - hopefully not as much as patti

Looks awesome!

Way to go Bill!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What huge changes youve brought to your property in the past year,Bill.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

Bill, the patio is just gorgeous. It doesn't look small when you see the number of bricks that you laid, never mind all the stones in the border. A labor of love for sure.

As for me...no new projects, no new projects, NO NEW PROJECTS ( talking to self), but I would like to use my pile of leftover stone from my garden walls to make a raised bed for some nice hardy succulents and maybe a cactus or 2

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Nice job on the patio Bill!

This is one of my spring projects - bluestone staircase (leftover from last year's patio) up the back side of the pond. I'm going to shift all that sweet woodruff on the right closer to the stairs and hopefully it will fill in the crevices nicely. To the left of the stairs I have hemlocks, ferns and bleeding hearts which you can't really see in the picture.

The next big project is tacking the last "wild" section of yard. I started yesterday with stump and scrubby growth removal.

that's a pretty yard!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Onewish1, if you haven't seen SongsofJoy's garden before, just wire your mouth shut now! Those new step to the pump house look great. That sweet woodruff will shift on it's own lickity split if it is like mine.

Wha, another great job, and finished. I have that trouble with my projects never quite being really done before I move on to another. I especially like the melding of the stone as steps with the brick walk and then the terrace of brick with the stone wall. Clever. Patti

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I think I remember seeing a photo like that one in the contest .... if my memory is right

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Well Patti is a little too generous since, compared to hers, my garden is still in it's awkward adolescent stage! But, yes I submitted a few in the contest. The one you're probably thinking of was the astilbe along the pond edge with the shed in the background. The stairs are new within the last week.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I love the patio Bill.

Songs of Joy your stairs and everything surrounding them are beautiful. I remember that photo as well.It was one of the best! : )

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Meredith, thank you. We might be neighbors; I'm in Southeast NH too!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

SoJ i guess you did have some bluestone left over - very nice walk way.

don't like the stone landing in my patio - going to dig them out if i can find some bluestone rock that will lock in the bricks and have only a two blue stone steps there instead.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Oh cool! Maybe we can checkout each others gardens in person sometime! : )

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Goofy causing a racket again?!

Dave, was the tour you were disappointed with a tour of the Flower Show, or the Gardens of the World tour??

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

wow love the stone steps

Songs- your yard IS beautiful. One of my fav pics of your yard in the DG calendar.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, I have a nice little pond with no fish, and I just love it. I have nice plants in it and a nice garden around it, and I always get frogs moving in.

Victor, you will need a big pond if you want to feed your deer carcass to your piranha!

Great combo Jen!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I totally agree, Jen.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice Jen.... you people are way too organized... I could never be that good

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks all for the compliments on the stairs.

Jen - I love the blues and yellows. Should look great!

Victor - I've just gone the opposite direction with my pond/fish. Up till now I've had only comets and shubunkins. Last weekend I finally succumbed after three years of debating and got 3 koi. I hope I don't regret it. I don't like to mess with my water either; in fact I never even test it and I like the simplicity of that. So if they survive, great. If not, well then I'll stick with what I know.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Christina - watch the plants. Koi have an insatiable appetite. They even pulled 3 gallon pots off the surrounding stones into the pond and ate the plants!

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

Oh no! That's really the primary reason I had been staying away from koi! I want my pond as a water garden more than anything else! Cross my fingers. I only got 3 so maybe they won't be too destructive.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow I had no idea

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

When they're small they are not. But they grow pretty fast. Tripling in size in one year is typical.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

amazing

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Patio and stairs look wonderful! Lovely combo flowerjen. What is the one in the middle on the right? Thanks.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

columbine winky series blue and white

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks. That's a true blue! Definitely MUST HAVE.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice, Jen.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks, all. Now if everything will cooperate and grow, it'll be good
