Your garden flowers are gorgeous kvit!
Flowers OT
Gorgeous, Kivit! I am not a fan of markers, but I do keep the tags sometimes near my gardening books.
Your flowers are beautiful!
Lynn, I'm curious to whether you've ever grown Gerbera's from seed also and if so, are they quick to germinate??
Kivit, I Love the color of those plants! Yes, that Lupine IS gorgeous! I like that pink sage ... I have some of the bluish purple sage that is just beginning to bloom.
This is a messy corner of my backyard where I love to sit on the bench and watch the birds. It needs to be cleaned up badly, but right now there's a pair of Downy Woodpeckers nesting in the old Camphor tree and the male gets really distressed if I go anywhere near the area!
Havent tried germinating them yet! let me look tonight & see if I can find them. The entire house is still topsy turvy!
Love your pictures!! Not much is in bloom yet in this zone.No Lin,I haven't tried Gerberas from seed.Back in my seed growing days I had never heard of them!! I do start a few seeds once in a while, but mostly I buy baby starters anymore.I do know that the lady at my favorite local nursery starts hers from seed.
Lynn
Lynn, I don't grow anything from seed anymore. It's easier to buy small plants, or grow from cuttings. With the heat down here stuff grows very fast.
Kivit: If you do sow seeds for Gerbera's, I hope you will update us on the progress! I'm real curious to hear how quickly they germinate.
Lin
love your sign!
What a beautiful scene!
WoW!!
It's a cutie pie! Actually I love bean type blooms--Sweet Pea is a favorite flower
Nichole, That is so cool, I would love to have a veggie garden. I've been trying to talk my DH into clearing an area in the front yard for years because that's the only area where we get enough sun. He thinks I'm nuts and he refuses to have vegetables growing in the front yard! He has lived in Fla since before he was a year old and says he's never heard of such a thing! I grew up in Va and remember seeing front yard veggie gardens all through Va, NC, and Ga. I would love to get rid of all lawn and have a wildflower, cottage garden type yard with no grass. I try to tell him it's better for the environment to not have a lawn since it requires so much fertilizer, chemicals and water, but he loves the expanse of green lawn.
What type of beans are you growing with that pretty flower? You said you aren't sure if they are purple or yellow? Purple beans?? I'm real curious as to what those are. What other veggies do you grow?
This is a bloom on one of my Tibouchina bushes.
I mentioned in another post, the birds scatter seed from the feeders all over the yard and gift me with Sunflowers sprouting in the lawn. A couple of weeks ago before I mowed the lawn I went around the yard and pulled up some of the seedlings and stuck them in a pot to grow on. This is one that's blooming now and there are a couple of others in the pot with buds.
I just have to share my joy! ^_^ I just got an unexpected, wonderful surprise in the mail from kivit/Joyce! How sweet and what a great package. I am so excited and can't wait to get out and plant everything up to see how it does down here in my Florida garden!
I got a neat yellow tin tub, 5 Gerbera Daisy plants, a really healthy rooted plant of Clematis 'Gillian Blade', a rooted pink sage that even has a bud, some mixed Dahlia's an assortment of seeds (Purple Hyacinth Bean, Celocia, Poppies and an unknown orange flower. And the card with the cute kitty on it is adorable too! Wow, like Christmas in May!
Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness Joyce! If there's ever any plant you see in my photo's that you are interested in, just let me know ... or even if you think of a tropical or something you can't find up there, I may have it or can find it down here!
I'm off to play in the dirt for awhile, even in the heat! I may just put my bathing suit on and jump in the pool after I'm done planting!
Lin
I so happy you enjoyed it. Jim will say, "but where's the cookies?" LOL
Lovely pictures everyone!! Kivit,it was so sweet of you to surprise Lin ^_^

Lin - that's when you clear out the space yourself, when he's not home! ^_^
We are growing Kentucky Wonder, Top Notch Golden Wax, and Purple Queen bush beans. Oh, and DS brought some lima bean seedlings home from school, so those are out there. I have 4 tomato plants, as well as some cucumber vines are starting to twine. Then I have the herbs and pepper plants - OH, I also have a tub of rainbow bell peppers. I should go take a few pix . . . be right back!

In the very corner is where I had some morning glories growing. They weren't growing well, so I put the Kentucky Wonder beans there, so they can vine up the plastic fencing. In the container next to that has the 4 tomatoes and the other two beans - which are in the tomato cage. On this wall are 2 jalapeno plants, and one tabasco pepper pot. I have one more pot for tabasco peppers, but had to take it off the wall when I moved the beans. I will put that up over to top pot.
This tub shows the bell pepper plants with lime basils. The grow bag next to that has mojito mint. It's not a strong mint . . . hardly minty at all, if you ask me. Maybe the flavor shows up more when mixed properly with rum. I will have to test that theory. I forgot to mention that the tomato bags also have basils in them . . . holy basil, and I think italian basil - I'd have to check the tags.
Oh, I forgot all about the Ipomoea albivenia! That's the bushy one in the clay pot. The two bowls I have attached to the fence have coral and purple shock-wave petunias.

Great job, Nichole! I have two measly tomato plants this year. I usually grow them in the ground but the past few years something kept eating them and they had some worms get them too so I decided to do grow them in containers this year to keep them up off the ground, so far so good ... have 4 or 5 green maters - can't wait for them to ripen! I sometimes grow herbs too but so far haven't planted any this spring.
Thanks, Lin. I've tried tomatoes before, but haven't had much luck. I think they're doing better this year, 'cause I'm not distracted by mowing the lawn and other backyard gardening plants. My space is now confined to a 6x10 ft space, so it's easier to keep up.
Here is one more pic . . . my mother had gotten me a topsy-turvy planter for xmas, so I went out last month and got a roma tomato from Lowes . . .
That is so cool! I've seen them advertised and wondered how well they worked! It sure would save on space being able to hang them upside down like that!
You are amazing Nicole! You've taken lemons and made lemonade--I love your garden! (I've always wanted to try growing tomatoes upside-down--LOL!)
Me too, but Will made a fence to keep out the critters
Oooh, cozy Glider looks so inviting too! I would love to have one of those, or a hammock!
It is nice to sit out there after the sun has set - before it's dark - and water while sitting in the chair! I just hook up the hose to the kitchen sink and spray away. I'll need to do that tonite . . . I just noticed my oregano is looking droopy in the top basket of the tower.
My favorite time of day for being out doors is early in the morning and late afternoon and early evening. All of the birds seem to be singing the most at those times of day. I hear them during the afternoon off and on too, just not with the same intensity, probably because they are busy feeding and defending their nests most of the day.
I love Coleus too ...
Lovely pictures! Syru you have such a talent for growing and grouping things so beautifully in such a limited space.Amazing!!
Lynn
