Daily Pics Vol. 210

Marlton, NJ

Nice pics guys!

Norman, OK

This guy is shy as well, Lily. He won't let me get close. I usually have to shoot from across the pond. I love the geese so long as they are on someone else's pond. If you allow a population of resident Canadas to build up, they will pollute your pond and leave the bank so littered with crap, you can't take a step without stepping it. We have a time-share in CO and they have spent a fortune because of damage from these beggars. I call them 'sky carp'. :-)

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Those goslings are cute though!

This isn't the greatest picture b/c it's mostly cloudy here too. I had to share anyway because I'm so amazed that this American Goldfinch is still here. I almost took his feeder down. Glad I didn't.

Here is a female Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder yesterday

Yippee! New to my yard (not to my life list). Male Baltimore Oriole. He was at the hummingbird feeder, but stayed in the yard for an hour or so to eat. Then, he was off. Hope he'll come again and bring his girlfriend. I put out oranges and jelly but he was still at the feeder.

And before he left, he sat in the sun for me.

Oh such sweet thing B. O. I figured I'm too far South to get these beauty?

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

well you could definitely see them as they come in from Central America. And looks like they should be in your area all summer.

Perfectly beautiful shots everyone. Love that Red-Bellied WP and amazing Hawk, not to mention that creepy, spooky red-eyed Owl.

Thanks everyone for your Baltimore Oriole advice. jec we live on 5 acres with mostly open fields but do have several mature trees in our yard and also lots that border our property on 2 sides. I had no idea Orioles would eat/drink Hummingbird nectar. I have 5 HB feeders out our Ruby Throated's come to, but have never seen an Oriole at one. I'm gonna try the orange and jelly platform feeder as well and see if that helps.

Here's one of 4 male Cardinals (and 6 females) who are daily visitors. It's a little strange though that none are fighting over territorial rights, at least not yet. A common bird and one I never tire of seeing or hearing.

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Congrats on the B O Mrs Ed!!! Exciting!!

Norman, OK

Seems like it's either been too rainy or too windy to be outside almost all spring. The sun came out for a little bit yesterday and I decided to see if I could get some pics and give the lawn a quick mow. This fellow was sunning on my study steps. Only pic I got. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I found this fella stunning.

CONGRATS Mrs. Ed!!!

Beautiful pics Rose! Still waiting to spot a bunitng here....

For thsoe of youwant orioles...even if you don't get them there are lots of birds that would love to eat jelly and grapes. The red-bellieds, cardinals, jays, thrashers, robins all enjoy these goodies. So you might get something really cool that you didn't expect!

We were suprised that the Catbirds showed up last year ans starting feeding on the table. Thsi year we have a pair coming. We just saw them out there feeding each other. So we are looking forwar to baby catbirds soon!

reddirtretitree - that's a copperhead isn't it? Be careful, they pack a mean bite.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Nanny, hope to see baby photos soon on that Catbird. Love your Cardinal and Nuthatch.

Marlton, NJ

Great pics duc and nanny!

I would have stopped to photograph the snake. I had some shots of snakes at the Cape May Park on my old computer.

Norman, OK

I'm fascinated by all wildlife. I thought about having the wife take a pic of me holding him to send to the grandsons, but I have gained some wisdom in my old age. I just picked him up with a hoe and placed in a bucket, carried him off down the creek aways and released him.
In case some are not familiar with snakes, this is a Copperhead and it is venomous.

Marlton, NJ

He is a beauty!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Great shots everyone! Love the snake...

Lots and lots of rain here the past week nothing new. Here is a pretty Pine Siskin from last week.
