Great pix everyone!

Mrs. Ed, Onewish, glad you got pictures of the Grosbeak. He's been busy, showed up at my house this morning, too. Stays for about one week every Spring. Must take a different route back because I don't see him in the Fall. Last year I think I saw a female also. Too soon to say this year if I'll see a female.

So it's not too soon for Orioles? I had maybe one sighting last year, in spite of frequent jelly and oranges, and then when I saw him I thought it was a half-bald cardinal. It was months later before I realized that it was maybe an Oriole?

Onewish1, congrats on the grosbeak! I too spotted one 4-5 days ago, and I was so thrilled like you. lol.

Rose, I'd like to trade house just about the peak of summer, so I can enjoy the cool breeze in your region and enjoy the birding. While you will experience the humidity and hot hot summer sun down South. lol.

Here's another picture of that molting bird (again from last year, I'm a little slow). You can maybe imagine how freaked out I was... Looked like a cardinal in reverse to me.

Congratulations on the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks...I still haven't seen one!

Peeper...I love that Painted Bunting.

Coo..I would love to know what bird that is...I've never seen anything like it.

Lily..We have the heat and humidity here in the summer also but not as much as you do in the south.

Here is a long distance shot of a Blue Grosbeak.

and here is a very bad shot of an Indigo Bunting. Last year they loved this feeder! I am so happy to see they have returned...kind of makes my heart swell just seeing him in that feeder!!

Here's a picture of an Oriole that showed up yesterday. Challenged and beat the Red Bellied Woodpecker for the suet! Usually the woodpecker is the victor around the feeders! Must have been one hungry little Oriole!

delrose..beautiful bunting!

Wow! Great shot Rose 1656

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

dellrose, THAT's a long distance shot? Wow, I have lens envy. What camera/lens are you using?

Rose1656, what an awesome sight! Two really beautiful birds challenging each other. That's an exciting shot!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh and dellrose, I had Indigo buntings the other day, but it was just before we got our new camera. I actually took video of them because our video camera had better zoom than our regular camera! I'm hoping they'll come back so I can get some good still photos of them, but it's been about a week and a half since I saw them. They supposedly stay the summer here, but they were here reliably for about 3 days and now they're gone, so I figure those particular ones must have been on their way someplace else.

What kinds of feed/plants attract Indigos?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Bea and Peeper! Peeper..I have a Canon 40D and a 100mm-400MM zoom lens.

Rose...that's a cool shot of the WP and the Oriole!

I believe this is a female Indigo Bunting...please correct me if I'm wrong.

Peeper..GP in Florida told me last year that the Indigos like Finch Food so I made sure I had some ready for them! Keep watching..hopefully more will show up.

The photos on this thread are outstanding. I personally apologize for not being able to acknowledge many of the individual photos.

Our Bluebirds have babies in their boxes. Here in Virginia a pair raises 3 or 4 broods in a Season. Here's one of the Mama's with a snack. I also posted her on the Mid-South Forum.

I'll setup a ladder and take pics of the fledglings. Hope they turn out OK. When I peeked in one of the boxes today, the little ones were all mouth.
