Gail,
They are both gorgeous.I don't know where Targa has gone bad?? It looks great to me.
Tommie,^_^,I would love a stolon straight from the hybridizer!! UPS is kinda' cowardly huh...LOL?
Fish emulsion can be stinky, but the worst problem I ever had with it was it's tendacy (SP?) to build up at the base of small plants and eat through the stem if not flushed regularly.Lou,I would never put it in a wicking tray!
Cheryl,if it's just that one plant I wouldn't worry too much, but it does look like a lack of chloraphyl...darn I can't spell LOL...so I would give it something high in nitrogen, rather than AV food, but still at a very weak dose, and make sure it's getting the right light. The mama leaf looks fine,so the next baby leaf might look different too.

Thanks, Lynn. I will keep an eye on it.
Good morning everyone. A quick stop to see all your lovely photos and good growing.
HGran...a definite YES vote on your episcia!
years ago I tried wicking. For some reason I thought it was a little too much work
As far as wicking - for me - I think it works great on the smaller and starter plants. It's not working as well for me on the larger pots. I'm thinking that after this weekend I will go back to bottom watering the larger plants.
mortswife,
That violet is beautiful.
Sarah
I hope it will be. I only bought leaves. A couple of years ago I bought about 2 dozen leaves and put them in a roast pan in perlite. One by one they died. So now I'm only putting in cups with my soil mix. Right now I have 33 leaves and 10 small avs from Rob's.
You have to use plastic containers (like a shoebox from Walmart) and drill lots of holes in the bottom of the container. Use 1/2 perlite and 1/2 vermiculite and I promise you won't lose a leaf. Be sure and dome the top with saran wrap.
See, now that formula doesn't work well for me. I had received some strep leaves from a recent trade, and out of the 4 types, only one leaf is still green. I had done the 50/50 mix in a plastic container, watered it, let it drain good before sticking the leaves. I did the "remove the mid-vein" cut. Of the 7 parts I stuck, only the 3 parts from the one leaf are still green. I'm thinking of trying the 1/4 soilless mix to 3/4 perlite next. Of course, I've stuck AV leaves in my regular soil mix, and I get babies just fine. I just think that the babies in the 50/50 mix come out bigger . . . . for those that the mix works for, that is! ^_^
I was only speaking of african violet leaves, Nichole............
I don't stick strep leaves in perlite and vermiculite...........
Oh, well, NOW you tell me!! LOL!!! ^_^
