(Zone 1)

Wow! Strep Silvia is a beauty, love that hot pink and yellow combination and I love the foliage on AV Pink Feathers! Who needs blooms when foliage is that pretty?

Leaf,
With your Roulette Azur are you finding that the purple fades more as the plant grows? When I first got mine it had more purple around the boarder and now it is kinda like your. Thanks for any help.

Susan

Gail,
My double trouble trouble is purple I believe .... Your flowers are just beautiful.... I just got done taking all the Plumerias out of the basement.... WOW I am dead now... I am still hoping to get a few pictures of my streps today ...LOLOL I can always hope....LOL
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I want you to know , Susan, that every single plumeria you gave me is still alive and outside putting on new leaves........but the winds have been over 50mph for several days and today is horrible too......I can't wait for them to bloom this summer. Then I am going to put them in the ground in the fall because they have great root systems by now............

I bet you are dead hauling those big pots.........mine break my back!!!

Accu weather makes me so mad because they say the winds are only 22 mph in Taft.......I know that they are over 40 without a doubt.............or higher........

It's taken me a while go get going with my new plants, but I finally have some to post. Here is Sinn. Flair's first bloom for me. Sorry about the quality of the picture. I don't have a digital camera yet, so I took this on the camera on my phone.

Sarah

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Ooops. Hit send instead of browse to get the pic. Here she is.

wowser, Sarah. You are really hooked on gesneriads now. She is so true to color in the picture. You must have a fancy pancy phone!

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Here are some baby streps from leaves I stuck (is that the right term?) in early February. S. Pegasus is on the right and was by far the most prolific. S. Vampire Kiss is on the left--you can barely see a couple of babies on the third leaf back. I didn't get any from the middle leaves, S. Coral Kisses.

Here is Raspberry Ruffles that I got from Gail last fall. This is the second flowering. Do you realize that the leaves on this one are over 12" long?!?

Thumbnail by lowellsf
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Look at those babies........wow............you might want to start diluting fertilizer and water them with the diluted fertilizer to keep them nice and green. You are doing a great job!!!

When my leaves get that big on streps, I always have to trim them back or the edges start to turn dark or brown..........good luck...............Still love Raspberry Ruffles!!!

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks for the info, Gail. I haven't been fertilizing as much as I should because the plants were on capillary matting. Now I know what changes to make so they can get the fertilizer they need.

Sarah

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I am glad Gail that you plumerias are doing so well... I lost a small one over the winter so that is not to bad.... The big pots are what kills me... I tried using the hand truck but I just dragged the suckers out of the basement . They are in 25 gallon pots... I have to admit I did not take good care last year with them as I was a slave to my new addiction streps...LOL This year is different as I can balance things better... Oh and Gail I know the winds can be wicked on them as I have had the ones in the big pots snap from the winds.... Gail do you freeze in the winter? I mean your weather not you...LOL If you do then they have to be taken up or they will die... One freeze will do it.....
Ok have to run to my sons to get some food... Hey its free...LOLOL
Oh Sarah, I don't remember meeting you so nice to meet you and your plants are beautiful....
Huggers,
Susan

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Susan,

Thank you. I'm taking in all I can learn here so I can have beautiful plants like you all do.

I was on here more over the winter. Now that spring has sprung, I'm spending more time outdoors than inside.

Sarah

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Sarah,
Well you came to the right spot to learn as I have only been growing for year or so... How long Gail? Is it two years this November or three? I learned allot here.... I came here to play Bingo and never heard of a strep...LOL Gail had a good laugh at that one....Nice people and good advice....
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Susan, I had only been growing streps a few months when I do laugh now as I remember vividly.......getting a dmail from you saying, 'What is a strep"?............it is still funny when I remember and now you are the growing queen!!

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

GL,your pictures are to die for.I love that Pink Feathers!!
Phoebe,if I succeed with rooting all of the Silvia leaves Jim sent me,there will be plenty for all of us!!
Sally,I always love your photography!
Syru, I don't know a thing about taking pictures, but Frozen In Time is certainly on my want list!
Gail,what can I say,except gorgeous as always!
I need to start another reply so I can look at the rest of your pictures. My sister is ringing my phone.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Gail,
I will always rememeber that time... LOL I kept hearing you all talk about these things and it was like ok what the heck are they.... I can laugh now also..LOLOL So it is going on 2 now I have been growing right??? It was after you started growing you said... Oh well who cares ^_^ I still kill an AV but I can grow a strep LOL Well most of them any way....
Well just got in from sons house and I am going to bed... Talk to you all tomorrow....
Hugs,
Susan

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

New picture of Chicago Flair.

Yes, Gail, they MUST be kidding about that wind speed. It is awful!

Thumbnail by Sallysblooms
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Like that Chicago Flair, Sally.................pink and variegated foliage..........my fave!!
I promise the wind was over 50mph yesterday and my orchids are all over the front porch.......knocked over and clay pots broken..........bummer...........

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Sorry about your pots, Gail. Did the orchids survive the wind?

Here's a try at EK-Goluboglazaia Rossiia (Blue-eyed Russia)

(well, at least you are being treated to a nice view of the dust on the leaves!)
