Guessing Game - Part 1

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I've seen people including me enjoying the guessing games with various pictures that members have posted in the past. I just thought why not there be a series of them and so I've named it as Part 1. I hope this will bring in a little bit of thrill to tickle the gray cells.

I begin with a small object in my hand to show you for proportion. Guess what this could be? I know none can make out a clue from this in its closed position. When it is open, you will wonder. The one who guesses will have a sixth sense and is a genius!!!

Start on.

Is it a multi-tool of some sort?

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

It's not a cell phone? ^_^

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

It is a hinge

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

No, I think it's hinged. it opens and there's something inside it. perhaps it hides scissors. ~ I'll think on it for a bit.
good idea, Dinu. ~Blooms

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Could it open into a fan? (the handheld old-fashioned type, not electric)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have something like it Dinu, most likely not what yours is...

could it be that it opens, that there is a leather strap attached and it was used by men to rid the lather from their shaving knife?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Hmmm, mmm. Go on. It has a single use and is of course, portable. That is the clue at this stage. I'll not say now if someone of the above is right or not. I'll just watch till the thread runs to about twenty posts or guesses - just to make it more interesting.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

It holds a tiny pair of scissors to to trim beards and mustaches with. Men can carry them in their pockets. Last guess

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

One person can guess as many!

Glenview, IL

gum holder?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Come on!

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

It's a utility item of some sort.

(Zone 7a)

Would it give it away if we saw the other side?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

No it would not, Kwanjin. Of course, Joan, it is some sort of utility item! LOL.

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

It's a container for a set of gauges. Dang it, can't remember what they are called. set the gap on spark plugs. or a small set of allen wrenches, also not the name, hex wrenches, that's the name.
But I'm going with the spark plug gap. lol

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

Well, I'm trying to speed this up so I can see what it is. ^_^

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

its a holder for allen wrenches

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I'll wait for another 5-6 guesses and then come up with the answer picture of this single purpose utility item!

Glenview, IL

utility blade holder?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

A corkscrew of some kind?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I'll surely see many eyebrows raised in awe after I post the answer picture.

(Zone 7a)

Is it a cleaning tool for welding nozzles?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

What is this?

trick question Dinu, are you holding it in the manner it would be held?

(Zone 7a)

I'm lost again.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Yes Betty. You are seeing the answer!

Marilyn Glen st. Mar, FL(Zone 9a)

It is a magnifying glass!

(Zone 7a)

Is it a divining rod?

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

That is not much of an answer! LOL I am more confused now!

Glenview, IL

An Attena??

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

It will hold something. Push the gray cells a bit more! Come on! You are seeing it.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

It's only got two legs. What would it hold?

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Dinu, I can hear you giggle behind your computer.

I will guess it is a clothes hanger.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I'm sure you have enjoyed guessing the question as well as the answer!! Perhaps you were guessing the answer on seeing it for the first time??? Well, it is a very interesing little gadget. One of my favourites. I reckon it belonged to my great grandfather or my grandfather. I've preserved it with great care and never took it on my travels lest it gets lost! Look how portable it is. Fits in a palm. I've always wondered if someone discovers a 'foldable' helmet for my scooter!!

I knew none could make out what was in it. There is no inscription of brand or any such mark. Just plain. Wonder where this little coat hanger was manufactured.

I request more of you to look for such things for this guessing game series. I hope it will find favour with a lot more people.

Kudos to cpartschick! Up there are some 'humourous guesses'!

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

The thought of coat hanger crossed my mind but there is no hook to hand it with.

Thanks for the game Dinu.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

That can be hung to a nail.

Phoenix, AZ

Dinu,
The thing that blows me away is that it belonged to your Great grandfather or grandfather..... Very high tech!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

My great grandfather died in 1936, aged 68. In my guess, it must have belonged to the 20s. It's so beautifully designed. The telescopic arms and all that!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

It is pretty cool. Quite an idea for its time.
