Well I not only have one hummingbird, but two now. I'm hoping to take a picture of the two of them together. Last year I had 4. It was this morning that I saw 2 at the feeder. Such beautiful little birds.

Hey, i'm feeling the hope here! Just put in a new hummingbird and butterfly garden on Saturday. I'm glad to say that I saw a female hummie at several of the salvias and then to the nearby feeder.

Excellent shots everyone!

Mine seem to be sticking to the plants for now.

I was at a local park driving through a couple days ago and I was really envious of all the wild red with yellow columbine. It was everywhere and so pretty too! I got some native last fall. One is doing really well but my other ones arent. I wonder if they are not getting enough sun. My honeysuckle is still forming buds but my two weigelas are ready to just pop open with blooms. My bleeding heart is HUGE this year. This is just its second year too. Do hummingbirds like them?
Saw a male out the last two days but just short glimpses is all for now.

My Honeysuckle is "Alabama Crimson"

They love the Honeysuckle but the Weigela is on the side of the house so I rarely ever check to see if their using it. I'll have to keep an eye out.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes hummies like bleeding heart! I added that and another really bright heuchera this year.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I have to raised boxes full of bleeding hearts 10 huge plants of them in a long row they just love them I am trying to get a picture of one feeding of them but it hard since the blooms are low to the ground

My 5 year old loves the bleeding heart and I only got it because it is so pretty. The fact that she likes it AND the hummers makes it a really nice plant/shrub. i never thought it would get so big in its second year. My neighbor across the street has a huge beautiful variegated weigela and she says the hummers love it. My honeysuckle seems to be a while yet before bloom. Wish it would hurry up. I saw a male hummer checking it out last night though, then he sipped from my purple salvia, my feeder, then he zoomed to my neighbors yard. What a hummer stealer. LOL. told my hubby I cant wait for it to be done blooming, then all my stuff will be and the hummers will be all mine again. LOL

Im the only one in my area feeding them so I have them all and I think its because I have lots of mature trees for them to nest in, they are so amazing I just get so excited everytime I see them

Dixon, IL(Zone 5a)

I have alot of neighbors that put out feeders for them but none of them garden 'for' them, so I hope they will start liking my yard better and soon. My 18 year old says they are not my birds and then laughs at me. They all color the nectar but I don't. sometimes I wonder if that really does make a difference but I just leave it clear.

I always make my own two cup of water bring to a boil add two cups of suger stir till melted and bring back to a boil and take off the heat and allow to cool its what I have used for years and they stay all summer from end of april till mid september
but I have many feeders and they seem to like the one that sticks to the winder and also a glass red one that the flowers are more open so they dont have to stick the head into the flower so they can still see around them so I purchased another just like it tonight its from walmart and its red with glass
I dont have a complete pic but you can see the flowers on it and there is six
in canada it sells for 13.98

Hey, scicciarella...I think I have the very same feeder. I got mine at Walmart too. I also have a little feeder that hangs from my kitchen window by a suction cup attachment and the hummers really like it

mine sit on a wire that is rapped around the frame of the sun shade just by the feeder
the RT are still here is large numbers but since it was so hot this week the roufus have gone further north to find cooler temps they always stop by in the spring and on the way back in the fall but only stay for about a week to ten days each time since they like temps of 60 to 75F

Dixon, IL(Zone 5a)

That is a good shot of the hummingbird drinking from the bleeding heart. Also, love the little feet too. That is too cute!!

I saw some GORGEOUS delphinian in someones yard in full tall bloom. Mine are no where big yet alone close to blooming. They were really pretty though.

My rugosa rose bush that I just put in last year has two blooms though and lots more buds. Did not know they bloom so early.
