April Flowers IV

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Well you know Gail, I was actually wondering about that when the fantasy one opened today, because I thought it looked like the Space Dust that had opened a week ago. I was sure they were labeled correctly! I think your right though.

This is the one I took two weeks ago (with flash)

And this is the one that bloomed today labeled Fancy Pants (with flash this time)

Yep! That's not Fancy Pants!
I have some others labeled as Fancy Pants.... I guess we'll have to wait and see how they turn out!

Thanks for the confirmation!

And good night!

Great pictures Karen, I can see why so many people want the Nery's, that is a beautiful combo of colors. Atsu Hama is more delicate in color but I still really like the bloom. That Sinn Leuc is beautiful, polka dots in the bloom and furry leaves, what's not to love. ^_^

I am going to have to try those sinningia speciosa, where did you get the seeds Gail?

There was some neat stuff in those boxes from Gary's but it has taken a long time to see some of them come to fruition, and I'm still waiting on a couple of things.....

This is S Ibitioca from Gary, it's the first bloom I've gotten on this plant. It's a beautiful deep dark purple.

You are going to laugh, but I took one look at all those plants and didn't have the patience at the time............I should have hung in there until they bloomed at least...........

I got the seeds from The Gesneriad Society........my membership is almost up for the year.......need to renew it so I can get the seeds again......only 2.00 a pack..............when you look at the hybrid list........be careful and know that Charles Lawn is great but they are giant........I mean giant.......almost like a florist's gloxinia........I am not ordering those again.

I think Jack Evans red and purple are great and nice size....
Purple and REd peloric are a nice big size and each one blooms differently........
I will have to go look at their seed list again to remember what I ordered wrong and what I order right...........

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

GL--I didn't get Winter Dreams from Kartuz. I got it from Paul Sorano.---It's not on his website...were you at the greenhouse?

Great pics Rose--your streps are pretty!

Brenda--Beautiful Sinn! I love a deep velvety purple.

Your Nery's are pretty Gail---And yes!...ya shoulda kept the box! I have to admit that sometimes I feel like tossing a few when I'm frustrated. I've learned to sit on that impulse til it passes

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am not believing I am going to post this, but I am soooooooooo excited to have teeth again after 9 months without...............no one but old people could understand this new enthusiasm I have..........

One of my best friends is dying of advanced lung and brain cancer.........so the church gave her the biggest birthday party at her own house.........over 200 people came by to eat and sing.........and celebrate her life..........she has so much faith and truly puts her life in HIs hands with joy every day. What an inspirational person she is to all who know her.

This first picture is of the friend I hold in highest esteem.......my mentor............she is in the chair with another good friend standing behind her. I will tell her I put her on DG! She has a wonderful sense of humor......

Now.......you figure out which one I am ........the one with the biggest smile!

Thanks for letting me share my joy!!!

What a great story gessiegail.. What a cool thing to hold a gathering of friends and loved ones before a person died instead of after. That is a good idea.

And congrats on your teeth!! I can't see them too good in that picture but you sure do look happy :) Must be a real relief.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks.......I feel like a new person..........not like I am really 67 years old! Isn't it amazing that any uplift in life keeps you going and want to be young ..................

Highland, IL

You look great!! Love the new choppers, and gotta tell ya, I'm not a cry baby, but your story just brought tears to my eyes. I too think this was a wonderful idea. It will help her as well as her family and friends who came. We had a huge 70th bday party for my Dad 3 months before he passed, he talked more about that party and all of the people who came by to say hi than anything else. We were so glad we did it. And she looks great too!!

South, TX

Gail, 67 isn't old at all. So glad you got your teeth. Didn't that seem to take a long time? I know everyone is different. My mom is in her 70's, SUPER active like my dad, anyway, she has a couple of implants. They seem to get done fast. She had them done when they were really a new thing. The rest of her teeth are 'original,' ha. My g. mother passed away at 93 with great teeth! I hope I have their genes, so far so good. I am nuts about taking care of my teeth. Dentists and specialist are wonderful aren't they? I am so thankful for them.

I bet you are so happy, your picture is great!

I am so very sorry about your friend. What a special day for her. Bless her heart.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Sally, lack of bone or a surplus of bone in the mouth is a very hereditary thing. My mother had implants ( a mouth full over 30 years ago......but they only lasted for 7 years). Now, there is so much new knowledge about how the bone can be stimulated to grow with these new implants. Most people I know say it takes about a year to get a mouthful of them................

It wouldn't have mattered what I did with my teeth...........for good or bad............mother lost hers when she was 40 years old as did her mother...........

Thank goodness I am just an old hag with nothing but spit and vinegar in me...........no big health problems and lots to live for.........kids are coming in on Thursday and more kids the next Thursday...........LIFE IS GOOD.

I have a sign that say life is worth living every minute of every day !
Let me find it.............one of my daughters is begging to take it home with her when she comes and she can have it.

True, genes count for a lot. That is why I hope I have genes from my g.mother, well, I think my dad and his parents were fine with teeth too. I know that is important.

Yes, the implants are supposed to be good for the bone, wonderful! I see, depends how many you need on the time it takes. I think they are really great now. Best of luck with them for MANY YEARS!

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Gessie--- You have a great smile! Congratulations!!! I know it has been an ordeal, and I'm glad for you that it's over. Your smile is as pretty as all the great blooms you have. Your friend sounds like she will have a easy "passing". He will welcome her with open arms, I'm sure. Lou

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

You my friend look FABULUS with your new pearly whites ^_^

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Does anyone know if there 2 strep Mighty Mouse? This one just doesn't fit the desciption of being a mini and the flowers aren't blue.

Thumbnail by jannich
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

i think I am guilty of this one. I thought I had Mighty Mouse and sent our leaves. She hasn't bloomed but she certainly isn't a small plant...............

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Gail that is wonderful that you were finally able to get the implants to work for you!! And thank you for sharing your joy ^_^ and your friends story. Makes us all grateful for the blessings we do have.

First blooms on Nicola, from a leaf Jim sent me last fall

It's the steak place next time we go to lunch, Gail!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Gail, I'm glad you finally have a mouthfull. Teeth that is. ^_^
It sure was a journey for you. I love your sign 'Life is Good. It most certainly is.
When my 'baby' son was 17, during an eye examination, we were told to take him to a neurologest right away. Well, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. His surgery was done right away. Thank God it was not caner. A few days later, I received a little plaque with the following saying. I repeat it to myself almost every day.
'I am not afraid of Tomorrow, for I have seen Yesterday, and I love Today'.
We have to have faith that God above knows what's best for us, and pray that we can accept what we are dealt.
Enjoy your steak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Brenda, I just got a first bloom on Nichola and love those tiny sweetheart flowers............the color is amazing, too.

Syrumani, I am not eating steaks yet but working up to it!!!!

I love that saying, Imadigger..................going to h ave one made for my kitchen...........awesome reminder of our blessings..............
"I AM NOT AFRAID OF TOMORROW, FOR I HAVE SEEN YESTERDAY, AND I LOVE TODAY"........That is an awesome reminder that we are a lot tougher than we think..........He never gives us more than we can handle .

Can't believe we are sharing like this...........on DG, but I have a stepsister who showed up about 8 weeks ago who is only 56 and very very demented..........her 'significant other' brought her to us.....I never knew her because she is so much younger and her father didn't marry my mother until I was in college.......At first I balked and said, "Oh Lord, please not me!!!" Well, I don't know the reason now but will someday know why this was dumped in my lap..........but I figure that it wouldn't have been dumped in my lap if it weren't in God's will that I do my best to get her the help she needs. There , but for the grace of God, go I!!!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Wow, Gail...that's huge! You just never know from one day to the next what life is going to bring you. Glad you can share here. That's a biggie...

I just have to post this plant! It is about 5 months old & has been repotted only once. There are 22 blooms ! It is Midnight Satin, & Jim is gonna say, "no it isnt" but i think my camera has gone bad with colors. It appears to be reddish from my camera picture, when it actually is so dark it is almost black!
whatever! It is a beauty!

markings are right,it looks red but as you said its the camera, good job

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I love the colors too Syru! Very pretty

I definitely have a soft spot for Kohleria, Sinningia and AVs like this variegated one that was one of a few impulse purchases made on a recent garden center visit (I'm sure I am not the only AVfanatic who runs on impulse purchase power? LOL)
