Boxes of Lily Bulbs came today

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

I already complained about the aweful quality of the SILK ROAD bulbs I received from White Flower Farm on another thread.

That was only one of the two boxes the mailman brought just afew minutes ago. My The Lily Garden order also arrived, no warning. Boy, what a difference from the other box. I have no idea what size bulbs for various OT type lilies are supposed to be but these all look great. Some are biger, some are smaller. They sent me two bulbs of SCHEHERAZADE as a bonus, which is fine by me. Guess they never read my e-mail asking for something else but this is a good choice anyway. Have seen some pictures of it on your posts here and it looks like a good one.

Cool. Did you order via e-mail? If so how long ago?

tnx

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

I ordered by printing out their order form and faxing it less than a week ago.

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Hmmm, I e-mailed an order in Mon. the 13th and haven't heard a peep since :*( Here is to hoping...

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

I had e-mailed them after ordering. I never heard a peep either and my order just showed up in the mail. I faxed mine. I don't think they read their e-mail.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I think she reads it, she just doesn't answer right away.

Tracey she needs some lily fanatic office help. Seriously though, for the vast majority of people that are not familiar with her style/busyness/lack of help, they would think she has bad business practices and not deal with her again. At some point a business's needs get bigger than a one person operation and needs help or public perception is tarnished. Hope she can find some hard to find honest help before more negative feedback pops up.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

You know, if I lived closer, I'd offer my help. And I mean that wholeheartedly.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

I just faxed over an order to The Lily Garden for 4 SILK ROAD bulbs. Faxing seems to work just fine and I had to do something as I really want to have SILK ROAD this year.

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

I may use one of those fax over the internet things if I don't hear anything Monday. I would work for bulbs or just help out for the heck of it too :*)
Silk Road likes to produce offspring quite readily, you should have quite a batch in a year or 2.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

You could always go to Staples or Kinkos or some such place to fax. I have a fax here in my home office and I never could get along without it.

You don't have to live close by to offer administrative help. You can do it all online. I have my own real estate company, and my staff is all over the country. Intercessor, you're right. People who don't know her, which is most people, don't have an understanding of why her business practices aren't up to snuff. She could use some help.

I had opened the box and looked at whats was in there from The Lily Garden, but had not opened the indivual bags yesterday. Today I planted my lilies so got a good look at everything.

The 3 bag of MIDNIGHT actually had 4 bulbs in it so hurray for me, I got a freebee bulb. Considering MIDNIGHT was the most expensive of the ones I purchased, it was a good one for an extra to show up it.

The bulbs of COPPER CROWN are the biggest bulbs I have ever gotton from any source so far. Again, the bag that was paid for as three bulbs, had four bulbs in it and they were all that really big size, so I had another freebee.

I put three of those in a grouping as I had planned to and planted the extra out in my front yard. I put it in front of the two Scheherazade bulbs that were my free gift bulbs. I had some liliies there, mainly white Orientals with some orange asiatics. I put the new ones off to the right side of the white orientals. Then when my B&D lily order comes, I plant to plant RED ALERT in front of those white orentials off to the left side. I think that this whole combo of lilies will look good together. They are all on a slope in my front yard right by the sidewalk and in back of the roses planted there.

I did want to say that the different lilies were different sizes. Except for the biggey COPPER CROWNS, they were compairable in size to the biggest bulbs that I had received from VB Wholesale. Its just that with VB Wholesale, not so many types of lillies came in the bigger size but my OT hybrids (planted this spring) certainly did.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Woops, just went out to do the last bag and the bulbs of SINFONIA are almost as big as the COPPER CROWNS. There are four of them also. I had looked at the bag before opening both yesterday and today but never saw that there were 4 bulbs instead of the three paid for.

Whatever you can say about The Lily Garden, they give give nice extras.

I do believe I've heard from others on here that Judith Freeman was a very generous lady. :)

I can't wait till you order bulbs from Buggycrazy. :) I'd love to be a fly on the wall when you open a box of bulbs from her. :) LOL

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

Sittin' right next to ya Ticker...She ain't seen nothin' yet till she see's Buggy's bulbs...LOL...You'll love them, Rita...
The only ones I've ever gotten that were bigger were B & D's Private Harvest bulbs. Advertised as artichoke to grapefruit size, they truly are. I think they are bigger and are over a pound each before they divide. Storage on those is a gallon size baggie.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Oooh, B&D's Private Harvest, eh? I might have to check that out. :)

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

I really want to get more lilies (don't we all?) but no matter how much I am still tempted for this spring, I figgure I have done enough for now. What with numerous recommendations for buying bulbs from Buggycrazy from you all, I figgure I will wait and buy bulbs from Buggycrazy this fall, like everyone else!

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh yeah, wise choice, Grasshopper. :) Seriously, you will not be disappointed with Buggy's bulbs. :) You best scoot on over there and check out and see what she's had and probably will have again. Her Queen strains are nice and I love my Godzilla! :)

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

There is absolutely nothing like a Buggy Bulb. Her orientals are my favorites!

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Wish I could keep more orientals alive in my heavy clay soil :*(

Tomah, WI

Last fall was my first lily bulb order from Buggy. Her bulbs are JAWDROPPING! I was so happy to have heard so many wonderful things about Lisa from all of you, I just had to give her a try. I don't know how anyone would ever be disappointed in doing so. You really are enablers! LOL

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Yeah my TLG box showed up today, w/ extras! Quintessance (sp) was on the small side but she was more than generous with extras!!! Figures I sent a fax today checking on the order. lol

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Well, that proves e-mails must at least be looked at or your order would not have been found. Unless you faxed it over after e-mailing it in.

Myself, I would deffinately order again from The Lily Garden, but right now I will wait for the fall offerings from Buggycrazy and order there like everyone else. I did look at the store website the otherday but everything for lilies shows as out of stock and needs updating.

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

Buggy Crazy leaves her list of stock up, for people like me who love to shop before shopping season. Her store for lilies typically opens the first week or two in August, depending on the harvest. It appears "sold out" so that nobody orders out of her lily season, which is fall.

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

Rita..Buggy only ships lilies in the fall. She doesn't sell them in the spring, due to lack of winter storage facilities. She leaves the items on the website for use as a reference and makes them as "Out of Stock". This turns out to be a great reference for those of us who purchased in the fall so we can see what it was we HAD to have back then...She'll update it late summer/early fall once she knows what she has available for sale...So see? You're safe. You can't buy them now anyway, but you can start your list, and then add to it daily once the DG members start posting pics of blooms purchased from her previously.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Ok, no ordering out of season. No spring orders from Buggy Crazy. Got it. That must be why everyone talks about the bulbs being so fresh, if she doesn't store them for the winter, they have no choice but to be fresh.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

And huge, to boot!

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

She digs and cleans them when she gets your order....

Southern, WI(Zone 5a)

I think no matter how much we tell you about them, unless you have seen one in person, you'll never quite know. You've never seen anything like this....promise ^_^

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Keep in mind that this is an absolute MONSTER of a bulb, but if you order one of her 'supersize' bulbs, it could be like this ~

(my hand is under there somewhere...)

Thats not a bulb, thats a Godzilla of a bulb. I would be shreeking if I unpacked a bulb that big. No ordering extra size for me, thanks. That bulb is unbelievable!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

That is a coool bulb, LOL ^_^

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Rita, there is a reason we've all been singing Buggys praises. She is a magician when it comes to raising lilies! :)

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

I believe she stopped selling supersized bulbs :*(

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Maybe it was just a bad harvest last year... ??

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Hey, the ones I got from Buggy last fall were still bigge than just about everyone else's !!

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Very bottom of her frontpage.
"SUPERSIZED LILY BULBS ARE OUR SPECIALTY, DUE TO THE EVER INCREASING SHIPPING COST AND EVER DECREASING SALE PRICES THE REALLY LARGE ONES ARE NOT SOLD ON THE WEBSITE ANYMORE. "
The normal sized bulbs are still huge.

O maybe she means the "Superdupersized" bulbs. I remember a handful of those for sale.

Oh well, it's ok, I don't have a back-hoe to plant them with anyway... And after getting her "regular" bulbs I'm afraid I really would need a back-hoe for anything bigger! ;) LOL
