Daily pics vol. 205
Onewish, it looks like a Robin to me
thanks CBL.... just wondering if it was too large for a robin... don't see too many in my yard
Great set of pictures everyone!!
Great pics all!!!
Love the Rubbing Doves in a tub onewish! Looks like a Robin to me also.
Nice variety cb!
Hey c'mon Lily, why not let seniority rule, lol. :)))
I've been away for a couple of days, but have gone through the threads to catch up. I wish I could comment on each photo. They are so good. Thanks for the Osprey pix, Nanny. Aren't they wonderful birds?
I managed to get some reasonably close shots of the Yellow Spoonbills at a local swamp whilst I was away. Here's one.
I really had fun with this one. It was dozing the entire time, but was the only bird that wasn't behind some foliage or with powerlines behind it. So to wake it up, I'd put the camera up to my face and cough loudly. As it opened its eyes to find out where the sound had come from, I'd quickly click the shutter. Within two seconds it was dozing again. I repeated the exercise several times.
very nice Magaret
Mercy me you all been busy again!!
Great pic everyone....
Mrs. Ed where did you get that cute little house? Hope they stay for you!
And how do those birds stand on one leg and sleep!??!
It is offical now ...our pair of Brown Thrashers have arrived for the summer. This is our 3rd summer with them. Here they are out in the maple tree yeterday together...which doen't happen much!
Great shots Margaret! Love the Spoonbill!
Good to see the Thrashers nanny!
Nice ones of Suzie and mate Red!
Nan, I've a pair of those Thrashers nesting to the sideyard shrub. They hung close when I spent time nearby. Oh Margaret those pix of the heron and Spoonbill are so lovely. I love them.
Margaret, love your photos!
Nanny, your Brown Thrasher is cute. We have the Calif. Thrashers here and I love all their beautiful singing. It just kinda makes my day to hear them.
Reddirt, cute ducks too!!
These Calif. Quail are here every morning and afternoon. These are still pretty young and smaller than the parents.
Great shots duc! Love the Eagle in flight and the Quail are adorable!
Saw my first Tree Swallows today.
Great Pelle, get lots of photos! Mine are still sitting out on the railing and waiting for something to happen in the birdhouses.
Hi duc, I only ever see them airborne so I'm not able to get pictures.
I could go over to the wildlife refuge where they have houses for them and get some pics.
I got some poor quality pics yesterday of a couple of barn swallows. They were landing in a sandy spot and looked to be picking up the sand. I just couldn't get close enough for a good pic.
I went out to a local lake this past winter because some eagles were wintering there. Went out 3 times and I was always able to see them, but could never get close enough to get a good pic. Still fun watching them through the binocs.
Nice ones Met!
Resin - what a wonderful pic of the Bohemian Waxwing...very very similar to our Cedar Waxwing. I hope I can get a pic this year of just 1 , even. They arrived for their annual stripping of my Holly Bush/ tree yesterday...so I'm watching ready!!
My Bluebird's have laid 2 eggs in the nest box on my back deck again for now the 3rd year in a row....I feel so very blessed to have them back! That pic of the BB pair & Dad wing-waving is precious!
here is a Mourning Dove that is perhaps a jeuvy?? very small for this bird and just sat there staring at me, too. I even went in and got my camera and it was still there for me to return and snap this shot!! Odd, I thought, but not complaining!
Thanks! Did you see this thread?: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/973581/ Lots more Waxwing pics.
Yep, that's a juvenile Mourning Dove
Resin
I am hacked because the nursery didn't deliver and plant a big 10-foot Nelly Stevens Holly Friday morning as promised. It's loaded with berries and these migrating Waxwings around here would have been all over it. I got bumped to Monday because some guy named Toby Keith bough 21 trees and they didn't get finished planting all of them. :(
