Edit Limit?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I looked through the FAQs but can't find this. How many edits are we each limited to a day? I was cut off once because I'd used up my 'limit' but I don't remember how many. Thanks muchly.

The limit is 10 edits per 24 hour period.

The co-op, round robin trading, test, roundup, DG events, and midsouth region forums do not have this limit.

Thanks Dave.

Happily ^_^

Hey, Dave, I have a request, too. Any way to get a little counter that tells us how many edits we have left? I lose track, and then run out when I really need them! Guess I should think more carefully before I hit send. LOL Is there any way to tell how many we've used/have left?

Thanks!
Angie

Angie, I'm afraid not. The check only occurs when you go to edit so it's not an easy thing to add a counter somewhere... Sorry. :(

I'm curious why the midsouth gets more edits? Is the region known for it's particularly bad spellers or typists? :-)

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

Could it be that Jacksonville, TX, is in the midsouth? Or is that the southwest? LOL

Aurora, ON(Zone 5b)

Love the edits.
You can get it right and then get it even more right and then decide it was wrong.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I wonder if the limits for mid-south were removed around the time of Katrina? I bet there were people trying to coordinate assistance, etc and it would have helped to not have edit limits. I have no idea if that's the reason or not, just a guess.

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

I use mine up on the Parking Lot forum. The conversations go so quickly, and the threads get so long. . .I try to edit to get more into a post now and then, when someone wrote something while I was typing, instead of adding so many short little posts that make the thread harder to load for folks on dial-up. I s'ppose that isn't really what they're intended for, though.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I don't know if you're really saving the dial-up people that much by trying to make long posts instead of several short ones--I have a feeling it's the amount of text more so than the number of posts that makes things take a long time to load. It probably has a slight impact since each new post also comes along with your info in the left column, but I don't think it's going to save that much. If the thread's so long that dialup people are having trouble, I'd start a new continuation thread.

Neither. It's in Texas, which is a region all to itself. :-)

I don't remember why the Mid South forum got the edit limit removed. I'm sure it was because Terry asked me to lift it...

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

(chuckle) Just giving you a hard time, Dave. So, it's Terry that's the trouble maker. I'll have to remember that.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh fine..he throws me under the bus. Thanks a bunch, Dave! Chuckle..

Actually the Mid-South forum's limit exemption is news to me, and a bit of a mystery why it would be. I don't remember asking for it...but if I did, I'm sure someone will drag the request out of wherever it's hiding ;o)

Well then, I was sure you must have had a good reason and had asked for it. In that case, I lifted that exception from the code and now that forum has the same edit limit that the others do.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Hopefully I won't take any flak from the good denizens of the Mid-South forum ;o)

North Augusta, ON

they probably won't even notice...and if they do then you'll find out why the limit was lifted in the first place ^_^

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I bet you're right!

Brilliant! The culprit will come forward if it is important to them. ^_^

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Not if they see this thread first!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Or if you edit it...

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

LOL we may have stirred up a brewhaha in the Mid-South. Too funny about Terry taking the fall ^_^ Really though how many times do we need more than 10 edits a day? ( of course just saying this to appease the possible impending wrath of the Mid-Southers )

Gastonia, NC(Zone 7b)

As an ex-MidSouther (does North Carolina count?) I can vouch for both the wrathfulness and the need for multiple edits. LOL!

I need many more than 10 edits a day but fortunately don't use them up here in the forums. ;-)

Ripley, MS

OK it is time for a mid south person to speak up--lol
I just caught this thread in the new posts and watched it, as I wondered why it would be excluded from the edit limit too.
First, I thought it was surely for spelling errrorrrrrsssss--then I said no, everyone has spell check now---then I thought it must be because it is mostly females that post and everyone knows that females change their mind quite frequently--then I changed my mind and said--no--that is not it.
So that leaves me in the same boat with Dave and Terry, who know why ??????
Since we are already in the boat, anyone want to go fishing???
Sandra

Edited to say--oops--I can't go fishing today, I got to do laundry !!!
