What a pretty picture. I love all that green and the little white flowers mixed in there. What are they?

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Very nice, Kim - are those Lollipops? I as well love the opening blooms amongst all the greenery.

I have this little guy opening up today...

Lollipops it's! Thanks Steve, I've other swollen buds that are ready to open up soon. I can't wait. My best time of year, when all the lilies are blooming!

Hi Rita in NY. :-). It's one of the meadow rues, I'm not certain which. I planted the plant for my Blackswallow Tail butterflies. It's said that the butterflies use Basils, Fennel and Rues for their hostplants. Thus far for 2 years in a row, I've yet to find any caterpillars using the plant, but it turned out to compliment my other spring blooming perennials beautifully. I'm glad you've noticed it.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

my oriental lillies multiplied have three to four coming out where there was one last year yes it will fill the area in about three years it will look amazing

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Thats one of the nice things about lilies is that they multiply and you get more. Not like having to struggle with a common perrenial, try to chop it in half to get another plant.

Lily love- I plant fennel, dill and parsley for the swallowtails. Don't have any type of rue, don't know anything about it really except that is listed as one of the host plants. Also have lots of Milkweed for the Monarchs.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

check it out lol this is amazing

the blooms look as big as brugs

scicciarella, don't you pull my legs! LOL. That must be in Asia's tropical climate. To pay big bugs for bulbs that won't even thrive in my zone. I'm gonna cry! LOL.

Another seedling

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

they grow in british columbia and that is the same zone as you right

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

I've noticed some subtle differences b/w here and the Brit's zonal climate. Beats me. I'm more interested in intercessor's hybrids than that exotic looking Lily of yours for now. lol. I know Formosa lilium originates from the Phillippine. I understands some of those doing fine in certain zones here in the States, still....

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Love it, Andrew!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Formosa lilies do well in our climate, Kim. But you're right, the only thing the US south and the PAC NW /SW Canadian coast have in common climactically if they're in the same zone is the zone number! ^_^

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Ditto to that statement Steve. I'm still searching around my garden for more lily blossoms. ^_^
But found this instead. lol.

That is pretty - what is it?

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

I found this in my back yard - my little Pomegranite tree "Wonderful" I planted last summer that I got at the local nursery. Had no idea it would have flowers like this!!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

That's a hybrid baptisia. I assumed that's a hybrid since I was eager to collect some seed from this plant for 3 years now, and it yielded none. Steve, I think DonnaMack helped me identifying it as 'Blue Smoke' baptisia. We had the sprinkler on and the flower stalk got waterlodge heavily bent over with all those pea-like blooms.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

For a minute, I thought that was a poppy! Congrats Steve, fruits will soon follow!

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Thanks Kim ^_^ Yes, not what you'd xpect from a fruit tree, huh? I planted a couple of fruiting apples and pears just last fall and I have fruits on three of the four already :-) The one pictured is maybe four feet or so tall. My pecan tree I got at the nursery also produced nuts the first year int he ground last year - planted the fall before.

Did you find any more lilies?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Well done Steve, fruits trees yes!!! Yum! More lily, but not yet in blooms. :(( But I found these. lol.

Wow those are gorgeous, Kim! You should post them over on the peony forum. I still have a handful blooming but my peony season is close to the end.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

All I really have blooming yet are yellow ones and two orange Asiatics in another bed. I am waiting for some of the other colors to pop!

It has rained and been dreary every day for the past week. And only about 60 degrees right now.

I have lots budded up as well yet not in bloom....

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Most of these are OT's and a few Asiatics or LA's, and most will bloom in June. Bed looks really ratty this time of yar since the daffodil/hyacinth foliage is half or not decayed yet and is everywhere. I am not disciplined enough like many of you to keep my spring bulbs in another bed - I need something blooming in all beds all the time!! ^_^

Well another Lollipop x Red Artiste. The color isn't quite as red but more a translucent pinkish red @ 33" high. No pollen here strange.

Andrew, it almost looks like a relative of 'Cathedral Windows'. very nice~

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

wow love those lillies mine are only four inches tall so wont bloom till the end of june or junly, so in the mean time I will enjoy looking at yours

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Lily blooms are all too short lived.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

that is why I mix them in with other plants so they make their show and then the foliage blends in with the rest

I just love them so will always grow them such amazing perfect blooms

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Andrew, I love that last one! The absence of pollen is a desirable trait for cut flower growers, so that could be a plus!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

this morning the post lady had my first box of orders from veseys yes I am so excited I am now the proud owner of a white hosta yes and got a great deal on it and also more lillies monte negro is my favorite and also any with yellow will do

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Wallyworld locally has set out some Asiatic Lilies that look very much like yours intercessor. A pretty shade of ... cinamonny's orange? I was so tempted to snatch a couple pots yesterday, who knows? I may get one today. lol.

Lollipops is all I've for now. These will temporarily hold me over 'til more (lilies) open up.

Another WM special, I hope it returns in future years. It is exactly what I was wanting for this area. Red Dutch w/ rosa Home Run. I should wait for compliments but I can't. Ain't this purdy?

Thumbnail by vossner
North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Great picture, vossner. The colors really complement each other. I have the rose HOME RUN but not that lily or I would try that combo myself.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Lovely combo!!!!!!!!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8b)

vossner~ I got some Red Dutch bulbs in a trade, and really didn't realize how much I liked this lily until I saw your pic! very nice with the red rose!!
