JJ. it looks like my Mourning Doves, but I could be wrong. What a sweet bird to share the greenhouse with you.

Bsharf, great egret and eagle pictures. Our eagles are quite active right now.

Nanny, your Junco looks comfortable. Hope there's still some around for you. Mine have left.

Great photos everyone!!

I saw this bird in a pasture behind my house. It must have had a nest nearby because it was slow to fly away and it kept bobbing its whole body (maybe it was trying to attract a mate) I figure it's some sort of plover or sandpiper but I could not figure it out.

I've been on vacation all week and have really enjoyed getting out and searching for birds. I caught a glimpse of a Hooded Warbler on Tuesday but no luck with a getting a picture. The Indigo Buntings and Orchard Orioles are back also. I can hear the Orioles but they have not come down from the upper levels of the trees yet. I believe I saw a Summer Tanager this morning but not positive. I should be hearing the Yellow-breasted Chat soon. The Spring FLing is on!

Solitary Sandpiper. Not nesting, it'll just be on passage - they only breed in Canada & Alaska

Big day here for nest builders. I saw the house sparrows lurking around the boat. I went to investigate and discovered that they were trying to build a nest in the back engine VENTS of the boat. So I had to duct tape those. Discovered a female cardinal building a nest in the wreath on the front door. I moved it 2 feet to the right (off the door) and looks like she's abandoned the project now. Sad, but glad it's now rather than later. And finally had some chickadees checking out the nestbox I put up for them. Hope they bond!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Crazybird, love that showdown picture!!

Nanny, cute brown Trasher picture too. Hope you'll be able to get more pix of the Juncos before they leave.

Mrs. Ed, it's probably good you did move the nest, but it's also kind of sad. Good luck with the chickadees.

She loves the way the feeder hole is larger so she can really stick her beak way in for the juice.

Nice duc

I was hoping I'd see some goldfinch or chickadees sipping from my HB feeder, but I have not yet. .

Wilmar, AR(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Resin, for the Sandpiper ID. I would have never picked the Solitary since my field guide doesn't place them in my area! THat'll be a lifer for me!

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

You need to get a better field guide ;-)) . . . . Sibley shows them as occurring in AR (along with almost all of the contiguous US, tho' rarer west of the Rockies) on migration. They winter from southernmost TX and FL south through Mexico to northern South America. Look out for them again on return passage, late July to mid September, in the same sort of habitat, wet muddy fields.

This is the second year that this mama Cardinal chose to nest right outside my dining room window. She knows that I am there, but seems OK, as long as I stay on my side of the glass.
She has been setting eggs for about a week. Haven't seen the male at all, hope he does his fair share at feeding the babies.

Good shot of the Osprey. I was camped at a lake last year and fished the same spot several mornings where water was being pumped in. There was an Osprey who fished there and paid little mind to me. He would catch fish just a few yards from me.

Here is a Kildeer I shot up by the ponds.

About a month and a half ago I mentioned that I had found a Great Blue Heron nesting site that was new to me. With all the bad weather it has been till now that I have been able to get back there. The water is still up to the edges of the road in places and the ruts look like the badlands. First here is a pic that shows the height of the lowest nest.

Some of the nest appear to have been destroyed by the weather and others built. There appear to be several different stages of nesting. Some Herons look to be laying, others setting. Some have some big babies.

At all the other nest areas the Herons share their nest sites with Egrets and Anhingas. It will be interesting to see if that happens here. This Anhinga was looking for a nest spot.
