Hi Everyone...time from a new thread...the previous one is here http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/973118/#new
Since our little female Eastern Bluebird is busy caring for 5 day old babies I thought I would start the new thread with another shot of her.
Daily Pics. Vol 203
Great shots Rose!
Thanks for starting the new thread!
Love these pictures.......What a great thread. Went up to Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge(Northwestern Missouri) to watch birds and the spring waterfowl migration north a few days ago. So much to see and I always hate to leave!!
That sounds wonderful cuckoo!
Nice pics on the end of the last thread red and rose!
Nice pics Frank and GP!
Nice start to the new thread everyone. My spring is far behind the beautiful green in the above shots. This afternoon I photographed a pair of Northern Pintail. They had to settle for a melt water pond, for open water. At least the first water fowl are starting to arrive, the smaller birds shouldn't be too far behind. I hope?
Grasmussen those are great pictures. The midwest is loaded with waterfowl and migratory birds now. You can only expect more for sure as our weather warms up and they leave us.
Cuckoo
Rose nice to have you back. thanks for the nice start of the new thread. Always some gorgeous shots.
The Pintail are beautiful Gary, and like the Goldeneye ducks on the previous thread.
We went down the Province Friday, and the ducks were gathering on flooded fields along the river. Wished I had the equipment, to take long range shots of the ones I've seen. Here's one picture I took.
Great shots to begin another great thread I'm sure. Not feeling to Spring like around here today!
Cuckoo, I've never been to Squaw Creek but someone on the Mo. Listserv went today and saw 17 species of shore birds. Sounds like a wonderful place to visit...maybe I'll make it there sometime.
GP...Love those Buntings and sure hope they show up again this year.
Burn...Sure is nice that you still have those gorgeous Redpolls and Grosbeaks.
Love the Goldfinch, Quail and shorebirds everyone.
The Chipping Sparrows showed up recently and have to compete with the Cowbirds and Grackles.
Nice Goldfinch TBMissy
Thanks Rose. The cowbirds have found my place too. When I arrived this afternoon, I found my yard invaded, by tons of Grackles and brown-headed Cowbirds, Starlings, and a few Red-winged Blackbirds, and lots of Doves, and Redpolls.
Thanks for the new thread and the chance to go "birding" in places I can't possibly visit in this wonderful time of the migration year.
Had a real Easter surprise at my bird feeders today......a pair of mallard ducks! It wouldn't be so unusual except that I am in the foothills of Mt. Rainier and there are no big bodies of water around anywhere. Just a couple of small ponds that we have created. Also a couple of German shorthairs that were on their pillows in the garage and the rains have been pouring down today. (Easter egg hunt indoors!)
the ducks were gathering on flooded fields along the river
Mostly Black Ducks, and a pair of Mallards.
Resin
Gary, I love those Pintail pics! I've never seen the male in person.
Adel, Beautiful Quail and Jay!
Burn, As always love the Grosbeak and Redpolls!
Missy, Beautiful Goldfinch!
Dellrose, Pretty Chipping Sparrow and handsome Cowbird!
PNW, Nice shot of the Mallards! Once in a while they come into my backyard too.
I haven't seen a Robin on my place this spring. During the winter I would see hundreds going to roost south of me in the evenings. Nor have I had a Blue Jay on my feeder in the year that I have lived here
I get more grassland birds. Have a nice natural field north of me covered with prairie grasses and forbes. Good pics, Nanny.
I'm surprised they could get in the caged feeder. Nice pics nanny!
PNW and Red...you both have such awesome places for birding and I love the pics you share here!
Nanny...I didn't know the Cowbirds could get into the caged feeder. I was going to splurge for one but won't now that I see they can enter it. The one I have they can only hang on the bottom and get seed from the tray. I hope they move on...too bad they don't nest!!
Here is a shot of the Downy Woodpecker enjoying the peanut butter on the pinecone.
