WESTERN HUMMINGBIRDS - VOL 2
Great photos dirt!
This little one is probably very young since there's hardly any coloring on her throat, but she was curious about me and kept coming up to the camera to see what the "clicking" was. I was laughing so hard and telling her to back up or I couldn't get a good picture. Finally she sat and drank a little, then she'd look up at me.
Beautiful guys!
Great photos! I keep trying to think of new superlatives for your pictures!!
Great pic, Duc, of the young bird.
Dirt, if you get more urges to show off other things in your garden besides your hummers, you might try the thread we are using:

wow.... neat
MtnGirl- cool picture.
I want Callopies.
What's the secret?
Special ingredient in the nectar?
Sweet talking?
Special flowers?
I just know you're better looking than me, I hope that's not reason!
Else I have hummers with vision inadequacies.
or worse I hope its not the clothes your wear? I don't want to be caught in heels.
Dirt, maybe several of the above......perhaps the shorts and halter top that I wear at the house in the picture--it is a vacation home on the Potholes Reservoir in Eastern Wa. where the sun shines a whole lot more than over here.
Do only use the sugar water recipe at both locations, and have usually one calliope male here in South Prairie, but later than the other varieties. I do have flowering quince in both yards. Don't know about the female, too hard for me to ID.
(Your bad hair may help attract them!)
^_^ glad you oops adelbertcat. I don't have those prettiful birds ^_^
Dirt, I am with you. I had planned to get lots done in the yard and gardens today, but have spent the morning taking poor quality pictures through the windows. You can see my grosbeaks and band-tailed pigeons in Daily Pictures Vol 14.
It certainly has been a "birdy" day, however, and the hummers are almost constantly at both the front and the back yard feeders. Wonder if they are getting ready for eggs?
Nice Adel. Love that last one. It must be so fun to see a couple kinds of hummers out there!
Nice pics! - on #12 and #13 you can see the slight notch on the second-from-middle tail feathers that proves they are Rufous not Allen's.
Resin
Excellent shots adel! I especially like 1,2,4 and 5.
Ditto from here! Beautiful.
Thanks.....I liked #1 the best, so now it's my wallpaper.
