April Flowers II
Wow what pretty streps they are and the Sinn is nice also... I have that one and it is also blooming.. My Kohleria's are blooming there little heart off...I found the clue to growing them... Neglect LOL Mike and I just got done taking off a load of mulch from the truck and we are going back to get one more... Hope I love to see tomorrow....LOL The mulch is free so we can't complain as they even load it for you.... :-)
I will be back later and if I can will take pictures of the Kohlerias...
Hugs,
Susan
Lynn when I started rooting in half vermeculite and half perlite with a dome on top until the babies are an inch or so tall I started doing the best with leaves, for here in Idaho anyway!
Susan my Kohlerias are looking good and blooming well too. I'm looking forward to seeing yours. Don't work too hard.
Here is Rhiannon that you sent me last fall, took her awhile to adapt to my growing conditions but she is finally blooming well. Love the light but distinct colors in her
Lovely! One of the Kohlerias Susan sent me is full of buds, but they keep blasting. It is on the top shelf due to height.Could it be heat? The room varies from about 68 in the daytime to 60 or so at night, but the top of the plant is only 4 or 5 inches beneath the lights.

Aww Brenda I love Travis Fran's Breanne. Those soft colors get me everytime.Bummer I lost my plant last summer.I need to trade leaves with you girl.Your other plants look great.Tatooo is a beauty too. ^_^
Gail, sounds like Kim is doing good.Tell her I said Hi next time you talk to her please.
Hi Susan,Beautiful flowers! The plant you want to know it's name is called Christmas rose I think.I'll go find the right name.
They bloom in cold weather--there's several pics of it on photography thread--backlit pics I think--it's called Hellebore

Beautiful pictures Sue!! I will try to take a better picture of my Kohleria so everyone can see the dangling bud.
Hellebores is also called Lenten Rose.Sure looks like the right plant.
Lynn
Thanks Jan ^_^ ! I put it on a wick, but it's only been about 3 days. Before that it seemed like it was always needing water every day.It sure drinks a lot from the wicking container.
I do have it in a pretty lean mix,so that could be the problem.
Lynn
You people who can make kohlerias bloom like that, I hate!! (LOL).........bummer........I tried for months to get mine to bloom and they just got bushier and bushier but no blooms..........Susan and Jan.......great looking blooms.......
I haven't tried Kohleria yet---having enough trouble keeping up with the violets. Was closing the drapes tonight and it suddenly dawned on me that this current grouping in this window seemed kinda nice. It's random, and the sun is getting sort of strong, may have to move these plants soon.

Oh wow I love your group picture... Good Growing..... Yup that looks like my sons plants.. I will have to look into them more to see if they are for shade or sun... I need some plants for shade... Thank you all for your help... Gail, I am telling you the trick to good kohleria's is neglect... really... Wish I could say the same for av's :-( I have killed to many to say...LOL My kohleria's did not do well with wicking so they get watered by hand...
Ok a question about leaves put down in a mix of soil/perlite and covered with saran wrap... How long do they take to get babies? When do I take off the saran wrap? Thanks for any help.
Hugs,
Susan
We need Goldleaf.........I am planting my baby streps like you say and I don't take the saran wrap until the babies are at least 3/4" high........but wait for Goldleaf.
Susan, did you get my dmail? Your box is sitting around your outside house or inside house somewhere (LOL)
No Gail it is not here yet and I was moving mulch in the bed yesterday around the time they say it was here...I will call the postoffice here in a few..
Hugs,
Susan
The rays in her throat are a very deep red.
Lynn--I would call it-- Celestial Pink Angel---See the angel in the throat? Unfortunately, it's not my hybrid! So I guess you'l have to check with Jim, or GoldLeaf, or Gail! Hee-hee!
Now that you mention it,It does look like an angel...LOL.
need to wait on Jim or Goldleaf.........pretty but I don't know........
Congratulations Cheryl!
Ewwww! I hate when that happens! In my case, it usually happens when under watered.

Then you think it was because I wasn't watering enough as Jannich mentioned?
