(Dibley hybrid) Outstanding variety. Blue veins over white flowers with each flower stem having between 7-13 flowers.. Narrow leaves. Medium sized plant.

Described as medium sized but I have seen this variety grown large in a 8" pot.

Nice GL! I have Crystal Blue Blooming it's head off also. Every time I go to that Strep site, I want so many! But the violets would have to move out, and there still wouldn't be enough room!

Dimmer, your streps are lovely! Party Girl sure has a lot of fantasy swirls. I hope you will be a very happy party girl in your new home. Moving sure is a lot of work but will be so worth it once you get settled in.

Gail, I love Bristol's Blue Water too. A good strep in every way.

Not a gessie but I couldn't resist getting this Waterlily Pink orchid cactus as a present to me for Sunday. Better than candy!

Kim--your streps are gorgeous! Pretty colors and patterns in the blooms^_^

GL--that orchid cactus is just beautiful! And it looks wonderful in your window! I've always wanted to try one--is their culture difficult to manage?
(um--Sunday wasn't your birthday...was it?)

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

goldleaf--- after you absolutely gorgeous orchid cactus is done blooming, could I be first on the list for a cutting if you ever get ready to share??????????? Please?????

I love it!!! If I ever saw anything like that for sale around here, I'd be in the poor house from buying plants. Maybe it's a good thing I live in THE SMALL TOWN. Only an occassional wally world or grocery store violet is all we have around here to tempt me. LOL Lurker Lou

Wowser, Goldleaf. What a winner of a plant...........magnificent speciman!!! Love those pink blooms........amazing that she is blooming this early in the spring.

Ladies, your plants are beautiful.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

OK ladies and gents! Here is what my friend brought me this month. Her boys give her an orchid a month through Smith and Hawkins. She enjoys the blooms and then doesn't want to grow them. This one makes my heart go pitter patter..........her name is Primary Paphiopedilum Maudiae hybrid.

Thumbnail by gessiegail
Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Here is a picture to show you her foliage.........

When I saw her foliage I ran outside on the porch to see if it didn't look exactly like one I had.......sure enough the one outside is a Paphiopedilum also. I got her in a big trade with RainGazer last year. I am bringing her inside and see if she is happier than our 40 degree nights...............My friend has had hers inside for over 2 months and it has the healthiest root system.

Awesome orchid! Love the leaves.

I love phaps! Even as a kid, I spent a lot of time walking in the woods near my house (not a dangerous thing in those days), and coming across wild flowers, especially Lady slippers was special. I once dug up a lady slipper and replanted it in my backyard--it came up and bloomed every year--til we moved years later. I was in grade school at that time. Hmmm....funny the things that stick in one's memory. Gail--when they are happy, they bloom their heads off and there are a lot of different colors and patterns on both leaves and blooms. Sally has some nice ones also. And of course, we can't forget ... Funky Paph! BTW--yours is Gorgeous!

I have a question about a strep... Nancy had sent me this flower a while back and it was tiny then grew big.. Well it never looked as good as my others and now it has died... There is a little spot that is kinda green still with nothing on it like a root maybe... Should I take this out of the big pot and put it in a little one? I can't get a good picture of it but I think I have one... Thanks for any help.
Hugs,
Susan

Lovely pictures, everyone. My favorite so far is not a gessie. I'm sorry. But I would have to vote for
GoldLeaf's WaterLilly orchid cactus. I've never seen any plant that is so beautiful. I would have been tempted to sell one of my kids for it. JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

I would have done the same Gail but it came from Nancy as a special surprise... So I am hoping against hope I guess.
Thanks,
Susan

Susan - I hope it is making a come-back for you!

I have a similar issue . . . I had ordered a starter strep (oh, boy was it a starter!). When I took it out of the box, the big leaf (all 2" of it!) had snapped off. Needless to say, that leaf didn't make it home . . . and it had been perfectly happy at work . . . but it was sitting in the sun while I went into the hydroponics store on Friday . . . it had broiled in under 10 minutes . . . back to the stub . . . the starter had been sent in a small peat pellet. Once I had the leaf in water, I very carefully removed the netting from the pellet, and set it in some AV mix. It is still a stub, but I think it is a little bigger. I am going to take the baby home (even though it hasn't been a month yet) so I can look at it under the magnifying lamp . . . I'll let you know, and maybe take a pic if I can . . .

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

From nubs do magnificent streps rise! I know--I've done it...but don't ask me how--trial and error!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

I've saved a few nubs myself Susan, it's worth a shot to dome it and see what happens! ^_^

Beautiful streps you have going Dimmer! The orchids are gorgeous too! There are no words for that blooming cactus! Amazing...

Dibley's Crystal Ice at the beginning of the thread caught my eye as mine is doing very well right now, I should have dead headed a bit before taking the picture but you get the idea.

Brenda,
It's so pretty!
Susan, you know a lot more about Streps. than I,but with any plant I feel where there is life there is still hope.I would probably dig up that little nub and pot it in a small pot and watch it like crazy!! I would also keep an eye on the bigger pot.If one nub came up there could still be life in the root system.
Syru,
I am going through the same issue and I'm pretty sure by your description of the way it was potted,we bought from the same seller!

Howdy Miss Brenda,Nice to see you and your beautiful strep.

Susan,Thanks for posting the picture of sinn Mothers day x self. It;s pretty.Gail if you talk to kimskreations tell her I grew a beautiful plant with her seeds. ^_^

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks every one for the help... I will repot tomorrow and then put in a baggie. Yes Brenda it is nice to see you posting again... Lynn, I don't know allot more then anyone here about streps... It is trial and error for me... What a great plant Brenda...
Hugs,

I haven't talked to KimsKreations in a month. I do know that the last time I heard from her she had quit her job at Verizon or whatever phone company it was with. Her family loved her for quitting and it only took her 10 days to find a much better job...............good for her!!

Hello, Miss Brenda...............our beauty queen on the AV forum.........(bet that embarrasses her but any newcomers ought to see her and her gorgeous family.......they all look alike and the kids are just as adorable)

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Gail your family is every bit as beautiful as mine! No finger pointing. ^_^

Raingazer sent me a cutting from her Gabrielle's Horn sinningia last summer and I've almost killed it twice but now its blooming for the first time and I love the double blossoms on it.

This is a crop of young Fernwood's Silhouette's. I only had a couple of leaves to start with but boy did they produce! Now the babies are getting their first blooms. Such dainty little things.
