My son and I insist that DH put chlorine in the pool before we'll use it again. Whether it needs it or not!
I'm not laughing about the gopher drowning, but I'm not sorry he is gone either.

Garden Pests
Hi! Everyone!!
I finally just did nothing to stop the insects this year. I learned a valuable lesson that when a pest, butterfly, hummingbird, or sparrows or larger are not in balance with the ecology of the garden, then Nature will send a predator. This year we had a lot of ladybugs eat the pests. Sometimes we have about eight or nine of the Gulf Fritallary butterflies and a Black Phoebe Bird will show up and patiently eat the majority of them (just leaving enough for breeding stock). Sparrows and pigeons come in abundance during the whole year. When they get to be a pest, it seems like a Cooper's hawk of Red Shouldered Hawk will come along.
I guess just providing the habitat for nature is the best thing to do...
Thanks,
Chuck
