I should be nicer to these roses. They are my favorites. I really need to move them, they don't get enough sun (so it's made the stems a bit weak.) This is Abraham Darby. It's very floriferous and it smells great!

Wow. Gorgeous. 'Last Hurrah' seems very happy!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Thanks, this is gladiolus byzantinus. The spots on the petals are from the Deer Off I sprayed; they seem to have a new formula that makes polka dots on flowers. :-(

A pot of nasturtiums that I though had frozen last winter; they came back from the roots and are blooming away. They will be fried in about 2 weeks.

Are any of you into anything tropical ? Would love knowing what you have in your area.
I'm waiting on Cat Whiskers from a member..I have been lucky with this..Do any of you grow the
coffee bean ?

Lenoir, NC

Sorry about the other post..I meant castor bean tree ?

Seabrook, SC(Zone 8b)

Hey Gail-

Several people on this list grow tropical things, but I'm too darn lazy to drag them in and out! ;) I had a castor bean plant last year, it didn't come back. But, if I find another one cheap at the farmer's market I'll buy it and just plant it as an annual.

Yes Gail I have some tropical plants. I'm more into citrus trees and plants that can over winter in the ground. No green house and not planning on one in the near future.

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Hi, Gail. I like tropicals, too, but have reached my limit. No new ones until I get a larger garage or a greenhouse! :)

Alice, you have alot of beautiful blooms!

These guys are blooming the best they have in a while -
Coreopsis (can never recall the name of this one, tho).

Sniff!! Confederate Jasmine. :)

Also have last year's callibrachoa back in force, various Iris, and good old Stella D'oro daylilies.
Anxiously awaiting more daylilies the next few weeks.

Oooooo. My confederate jasmine isn't blooming yet. I'm jealous!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

They just started around here. Walking the dog in the morning is getting tough, the scent is beautiful but overwhelming early in the day.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

These bloom under my trees every year and I have no idea what they are. Anyone?

Oxalis, the pretty ones you have are related to those pesky weeds you get in nursery pots when you buy plants.

Lenoir, NC

Thanks for the reply everyone.....I must be the only one from NC on this site..Does it matter?
Jenny we have a Farmers Market here...I have never thought about checking out the plants there.
When i go i'm so hungry for fresh veggies..But i will look when i go back..Would love to get into something different..I've ordered a Bird of Paradise plant...So i will be toting this back inside for the winter..Time to take the dog to the vet..Do other chores and get ready for the beach Thursday.
Enjoy your day..Glad i found this site.

Those oxalis are the nice Wood Sorrell that comes in white and pink.

The ones that coem up in the nursery pots are set by seed, these have corms and so they clump. Very non spready and nice

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

yes, they are very pretty and I have them under alot of my trees. They are alot more purple than what the picture shows. Thanks for the id.

Gail, I just call those Pinks. It's a dianthus in the same family as Sweet William and Carnations.

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Yep, Sweet William, which I love because it's so reliable. :) Pretty white Iris!

Got daisies?

tggfisk, I went to TX and while there visited a DG friend. last second - I was running very very late - we grabbed our cameras and took some photos for our SI thread - and darned if my camera didn't get left on the plane or the rental car!!! if only I had not taken it out of my purse! but I couldn't have gotten photos of BJ.... for Mother's day, Randall purchased me a new red one - says maybe I won't lose that one as fast.

Who's to say that I'm not nuts?! LOL! Gotta keep remembering that he doesn't complain when he digs new garden spaces for me...and he does dig good spaces. Guess I'll have to keep him, although there are days...;>

Johns Island, SC

What's blooming in April? What ISN'T??? About 5 or 6 years ago I bought 6 Louisiana Iris and stuck them in the ground at the edge of my pond, hoping over the years they would form a nice "clump" of springtime yellow. Didn't do my homework well enough. Here's what happened... Those little boogers completely surround the edges of the pond now, and are even crowding out the bullrushes! Be careful what you wish for!
