I think this is a Downy Woodpecker that came by yesterday (Rendon, TX - just SE of Fort Worth). It's a little dark, but looks better in the full-sized image.

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site, and finally have a minute to get on the computer. Just this morning I snapped this pic of a pileated woodpecker on my suet feeder. Iv'e seen his mate as well this spring so hopefully they will nest in the woods behind our house again this year. If I'm real lucky I might get pics of the babies too!!

wow great pics just love birds of all kinds

I love the Pileated WP's as well. Unfortunately, they are rare around here. Lots in the pine forests of Eastern OK and I've seen one just a few miles east of here in Little River State Park. I've seen several at Lake Murray State Park.

I just have Downies and a Red-belly.

Big Rapids, MI

We have Downies, Redheads, Hairies, and Pileated. Unfortunately, we also have Cedar siding, so our house has lots of "artwork" from their creative pecking. I love my birds though. We have lots of different kinds. I have been trying to entice some bluebirds, but the house I built for them has attracted a pair of chickadees instead. Oh well, maybe next year. I am still happy with the fact that my house has tenants.
