The Redpolls have return in great numbers, in the past few days.

Juncos are coming back. Only pic of it, but will have more.

Speaking of Juncos, I was browsing http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/ when I came across this interesting bit of info...

"Although they look nothing alike, the White-throated Sparrow and the Dark-eyed Junco occasionally mate and produce hybrids. The resulting offspring look like grayish, dully marked White-throated Sparrows with white outer tail feathers."

Hard to imagine such a pairing, isn't it?

I just wanted to say this, the Redpolls looks somewhat like our housefinches? And the Juncos somewhat like the Eastern Phoebes? Just a thought. Love all the pictures.

I've been away from a computer for several day. I think I was afraid of the Conflickter (sp?) worm.
anyway, here's domestic Mallard. He's all alone though. His mate was killed by a predator. He's handsome though.

Aww that's a shame cb! He is a handsome fella and I hope he finds a mate very soon! Nice pic.

I saw this wren (Carolina?) take a seed from a feeder and then sit underneath this old swing seat and just attack it! It was almost like Titmouse behavior.

It looks like a Carolina Wren. They are so cute!

Here is one of a young OKC zoo visitor feeding a Lorikeet nectar. Didn't know the kid, just snapped his pic because he is so cute.

And another of a young man who isn't so sure he likes so many friendly birds. :)

A cardinal visited my young lilac bush this morning. It's just about to leaf out. He was so striking with everything else being sort of brownish-grey.

My Calif. Towhees are all strutting around with their wings flapping and the tails up.

This Calif. Quail was looking at me through the window, guess he wanted some of my lunch.

Lily, I love your heron photo. I just had one fly by our home, but I had the camera on the wrong setting and none of the photos came out. I hate it when I do that. Oh well, at least I get to enjoy your picture.

Nanny, great catch on the chipping sparrows. They have been chatty here today but I not coming to the feeders.

Canada Geese and a pair of Mallards down at the neighjborhood pond.

Just got back from taking the girls home. I love them to death...but glad that they are gone...LOL!!!!

Nanny cute sparrows and that last Canada Goose is adorable. It looks like he's giving someone a piece of his mind. I heard them going by our house this morning, but they never land on our part of the lake. They're such a beautifully colored animal.

Looks like he is sticking his tongue out at someone. :-) Nice ones nanny!
