Well, first, yes, my chickens love to hang out with the goats and sheep. They ride on their backs. Especially in winter when the sheep lay in the sun and their fleece gets all warm, the chickens snuggle down in the fleece. They dig through the barnyard leavings after the goats and llamas have had their fill of alfalfa. Everybody seems to get along.
The Eglu is double walled plastic. I've had chickens in it all winter and no problems. I have a larger coop we built that is on wheels, and no losses in there either - it's got a 4x8 footprint and is made from plywood and cedar siding. Then we have another one that is 10 by 12 and it has a ceramic panel heater. We did have some frostbite issues earlier this winter before we had the panel heater.
You can change their coops by moving them at night, repeatedly, over several nights. They get the hang of it. Eventually.

Do your donkeys play donkey bowling with the chickens like mine do? It used to be my guys favorite pasttime, sneaking up on chickens or trying to herd them...
I will have to check out the eglus. My little guys did not do so well on the first day of introduction to the flock. It was a feather eating party for the big girls. I will wait awhile before we try anything like that again. :/ I will also look into the panels. They sound useful!! Thanks.
Claire -would you check that weak chicken thread? You and whoever else has more experience in chicken diagnosis than I?
Reminds me of the studious little chick from the Warner Bros cartoons -Anyone remember him? mortarboard and black specks?
I do!
Name too? I'm drawing a big blank...
Miss Prissy's son, Egghead Jr?
Thar he be. How'd you do that?!
Misspent youth.
How can I get me one of those?
Ah! That's computer skills for ya! Little blue R's and pink P's! Cute!
I'll do more head shots sooner or later...
No need.. Just side shots are better for me.. I go by wings more than anything at this age.. although you can see a little ridge of a comb on the boys..
Fun.. That's my favorite guessing game!
