So, I asked about the stone steps. He said they weigh between 200-300 pounds each. You were right on the money, JoAnn! Now he says to me "You know what would look great? A waterfall!!!" And on and on it goes...LOL. (Not in the budget right now but of course I've got waterfalls on the brain now.)

Patti, I love your woodland garden and stone walls. So far, I have some trailing Campanulas to go over the wall. I hadn't thought of Sedums.

Bill, The moss rocks were brought in but my back yard is very moist and shady so I have no trouble growing moss. It looks like they've always been here. The rest of the stone will "age" quickly here.

DyanesGarden, My favorite are the gray dianthus. They spill and flowers so nicely. There are tons of cultivars. Plus many are highly scented.

Now to temp you with a waterfall. We built this endless stream in the fall of 2007. I did the majority of the work myself, until my DH got interested, now it is his favorite thing. I was inspired by several amazing ones I saw here on DG. One in NH by Songsofjoy. Hers is nirvana. She did the work herself. Also from shihtzumom on DG, who did it by herself. And Victor has a wonderful pond that is so well planted as you would expect from him. You certainly have a perfect spot for the endless stream and waterfall. Patti

nice picture patti - is that hosta sagae? lots of great stone up there on your VT property - did you use any on the endless stream? Some big ones would be nice in your jm garden with lichens and/or moss.

hint - lay wheel barrel on its side, roll boulder into it - pick up wheel barrel with weight on wheel not the metal leg, back truck up to a ledge where you can wheel boulder into the truck bed. you will be amazed at how large of a boulder you (hank) can move. just a thought :)

Dyane those slabs look bigger than 200 lb's

Your opinion is worth a lot.

Joann with a name like spring delight i'm anticipating a some great spring color!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Just got caught up on Dyane's new wall. Great job Dyane! I want the moss stones. I have a hoot of a time getting moss to grow in our dry climate. Looks like the the NE is into tulips now. Cool ^_^

Great stream pics, Patti. Looks like spring is coming for you too, Jo Ann! I look forward to seeing the JM too. I planted another today near the pond - Royle. Wanted to do way more when the weather turned nice, but fell asleep!

Naptime is an important gardening ritual.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hee hee. Can't argue with that.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, shame on you. Not for the nap, but for snagging A.p. 'Royal' before I could get one. I had that one on my list, but I am done for the year, so no mas. I can't wait to see yours planted by your pond. I took some pictures from the second floor today, looking down on the west side with the stream. Still pretty bare, and the critters haven't helped by munching on the crocus. Patti

Not 'Royal', Patti. It's 'Royle'. I'm assuming they are two separate ones.

Loved seeing your garden work, Dyane---and Patti's stream----& everyone's beautiful spring flowers! Wish I could do more, but getting part of my fence rebuilt is it, I'm afraid. Here's some crocus I found in one garden.

And here are the wood hyacinths---they are a nice pink---don't know why they washed out so in the photo.

Patti, I have started from seed this year Carnation 'Clove Drops'. It said it has blue gray foliage and fragrant flowers. Must be what you're talking about. I was going to use them in some hanging baskets but now that you mention it, it would look great with the blue gray stone.
This is the picture from Summerhill Seeds.

Patti, I just love your endless stream. I've looked at your Picasa albums of your progress and I've oohed and aahed. You've created such a lovely serene place to enjoy. Songsofjoy's is really out of this world.

I'm with you, Bill. They do look heavier.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looking great, Robin and Allison! Looks like everyone's catching up. I love Christina's (Songs) pond too - multi-level looks so nice. The only drawback to hers is that it is heavily shaded so no waterlilies.
