April Blooms

Way to go Carol! "Inspector Subconciously Bribed by Lacunosa Fragrance"

Sunshine, I love the Jennifer so far. I had to trellis it; just no more space to
hang anything.

Sunshine your subcalva is beautiful. Can't wait for mine to bloom. I read some where on the web that it has to be 8ft. long before it will bloom. I hope that isn't so. If it is, I have a few feet to go. Mine is only about 3ft, if I unwind it. LOL.
I'm waiting for lobbi, and a speckled obovata to bloom. The peduncles are taking a long time.
All four of my pubicalyx have peduncles. They all are supposed to be different, but the peduncles all look the same. I'll know for sure when they open, Soon I hope.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

H. curtisii. Don't know why it came out so pink?

Thumbnail by AlohaHoya
Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Carol, very pretty, all of them. I especially like the curtisii. The flowers are different from the others. It's really cute.
Did you ever get to look at comparing my leaves to yours on the phyllura?

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Ima...I don't think there are standards such as length of vine for a plant to bloom....Mine are only about 3' and they have been blooming for a year. Hoyas get onry.

Here is an OT. I loved it. It is an African Tulip Tree bloom that has fallen on a ground orchid...

I can't find my H. benguetensis to compare...but you might try www.myhoyas.com Definitely not phyllura.

It very well could be sunshine, I don't have an "official" tag for that one. Smells nice too.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

What a great sunny place you have to grow them, pdoyle! Love that fungii. Kenejiana is lovely with great leaves. Wish my curtisii would ever bloom! Affinis is to die for!

Chesapeake, VA(Zone 7b)

I just double checked my label and there is one on there that says Fungii, I guess I read the wrong tag. Anyway, I still love the blooms!

That rigida goes on the wishlist!!!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Eileen--I've had hoyas just sit forever and then suddenly spring into action. Mine seem to resent being cut back--who knows what motivates a hoya? I don't. I do know I tend to underwater them--they are prolly jealous of the violets! LOL
Boojum--My curtissi has never bloomed either--I've had it @ 4 years.
SRQ--those pool shots are great! Pretty flower too!
Pic is of Bella Lancelotta variegata--finally got a pic!

Really, hoyas seem to know when it's time to bloom and it appears I have absolutely no influence. As long as I keep them alive, I have hope. It's sort of a relief to not be responsible!

Shepherdstown, WV

Great blooms, all!

Here's my H. samoensis - seems to be a willing bloomer, as a rooted cutting with
more umbels on the way !

My son says it smells like pear, I agree - fermented pears ! Mostly smells at night tho.

h. Red Buttons - I do not know why mine comes out lighter than others. I kept in more sun over the winter to as Mr. Liddle suggested.
