This fella better find a mate or else I'm gonna climb up the
roof and wring its neck. I had read when and where a flicker
finds a mate, he will go back to that spot and bang on it
to get attention, why on earth would a female be attracted to
a fool who keeps banging on my metal chimney stack.
They are doing all that tail flashing and neck contortions,
love is in the air.
well, kinda kidding want these guys around.

Thanks Duc. Although it's dreary and rainy, it's been a good bird day because I also had visits from the Male Eastern Towhee again, and the Northern Flicker. No pix though :(

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Went to the Sandhill Crane Festival in Othello, Washington just over a week ago. The bird watching there is wonderfully unique. Couldn't get very close to the cranes and I don't have the quality of camera that many of you have, but they are a very impressive sight.

The Great Blue Heron rookery is also a treat. Counted at least a dozen nests in this one tree.

PNW, your owls are just adorable. That's a lot of nests in the tree! Our heron festival is near the end of April. Last year I got some cute photos, hoping this year will be better.

Kniphofia, love your birds. Sure are colorful!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Been seeing great blue herons, ringed necked ducks, wood ducks, and hooded mergansers in the pond around here lately.

Norman, OK

One of the regular moochers. I had a dozen or so goldfinches on my feeder all winter, but most of them and the juncos have left in the past few days. Still have this fellow hanging around.

Very good Mrs Ed; nice pics!

Norman, OK

Here is a colorful sunset shot taken last week on spring break with the grandsons. Shot from Lake Elmer Thomas in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, SW OK. They live in Dallas. We took my 5th wheel and stayed on Ft. Sill. Saw tons of wildlife, took them to see the old fort, Chief's knoll and Geronimo's grave. I think the boys enjoyed getting some fresh air and Grand Dad's cooking.
