shhhhh don't say the 'f' word

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

It's almost as bad as the "s"word. Now that it's May I'm trying to forget those words.

Onions and leek sets are growing like crazy. How many leeks can one person eat anyway? I've got to get something else planted!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i just planted 100 leeks in the garden that were started by seed

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I thought that there was a state rule that only allowed you to eat clam chowder?

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Thomaston, CT

Leeks are mighty good roasted with other root veggies! And how about leek quiche?

Debilu - I'm with you....I can't eat flowers either. I have psychological indisposition (PI) to eating all types of babies. That's why I can't eat venison as well. I actually have PI so bad that Hank has to throw out the wilted flowers in vases in the house. He doesn't even ask anymore. I have to turn my head. LOL

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

That's funny Louise! That's why I don't eat veal.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

yummmm veal...

I had the BEST homemade guacamole and salsa yesterday and I got the recipes!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Yeah, I don't eat veal either, and when we go to a BBQ place in the south, I just pretend that BBQ is not made from animals. I'm a terrible hypocrit when I'm hungry.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

yummmmm bbq.... I think I'm going to tell hubby to make brisket for me for mommy's day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No broccoli, Louise? That's a flower!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Please share guac and salsa recipes!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't like veal. Not crazy about lamb either.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - I always make sure to cut my broccoli before it flowers. LOL I bought a pack of broccoli plants today...getting late to get them planted, so I'll get them in tomorrow. I'm planning to buy the rest of my veggies from Sherrie. But, the onions I ordered from Dixondale Farms arrived today.....4 days ahead of the date I requested for shipment. Good thing we were here! I got Walla Wallas and Alisa Craigs. Those do the best for me here. And yeah......no lamb for me either. Too cute......and don't even mention rabbit to me....Never!

Sorry to say I do like veal & leg of lamb----and definitely brisket! But we are trying to eat more veggie stuff----at least 2 days a week I make only nonmeat things----but I love the organic frozen Indian meals which are all veggie----can't get DH to even try one---would help if we had an Indian restaurant in the area, but we don't. Also like tofu from the Chinese place, but I like it sauteed---not very healthy!

Timing is starting to be critical to wheater or not I go roadside to sell. I posted pics last week with Willyb. They have shot up maybe 4 inches in less than a week.

Last pic. The romas that you see 1st are a week older than the rest. When they start to shoot - man I am telling you they shoot

Ok one more pic and thats it. I am outta room. I have flowers outside, under the flats and stuck every place - even in the house! I am now taking the middle of the floor - DUH I need a bigger green house!!!!! I love doing it and I will do it again. Remember all the 1st year I was going to run all the supplies over as I killed tons of stuff? Memories with my great DG friends.
