Buds on my Brugmansia

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Cody, 4th photo up? There are so many look alikes that it is impossible to ID from a photo, or even in person. Rather than adding to the misidentified, it might be best to enjoy the lovely blooms as a noid. I had a table full of named Brugs upset by a very strong gust last summer. I managed to save most of the rooted cuttings, but the labels fell out of the pots. In an instant, my named Brugs became noids rather than risking misidentify them. Weather and temperature have such a strong influence on the size and/or color of the blooms and caleces from one flush to another that to go by one flush or bloom invites misIDing it.

That is why I write directly on the cutting as soon as possible to keep from loosing the identification. I can still read on my mountain magic where I wrote on it with a permnant marker when I received it 2 1/2 years ago..... I am still amazed! That was a woody cutting so it has stayed well. The green ones don't stay well but as soon as there is a woody area I re write it.

What kind of marker do you use? I tried using a regular Sharpie, but the ink wouldn't go on plus Sharpie ink fades within a year, at least it fades on plastic labels.

yes, it does fade on plastic.. sometimes within just a few months but for some reason it stays on the woody part of the plants! That is what I use.. the fat sharp point sharpie. I just went out and looked again and all my 2 year olds that I have written on I can still read plain as the day I wrote it.

Beautiful brugs Cody. Back from my trip and ready to start gardening again. The weather was perfect and just the week before they had snow. Have to get my land legs back, too much walking and I had to take a day to try and get ready for the hot weather we are having here. In the 90's and kind of hard to get out to play in the dirt when it is so hot. I do have to get busy and put my baby brugs in bigger pots. After all this time I surely don't want to lose any of them.

It was great to visit my sister and her extended family, what a great group. Glad to be back though, I do think DH missed me but why he can't pick up after himself. I spoiled that man way too much. I've got happy dogs too, I got such a great welcome from them. Trying to catch up on all the threads I visit. Found a great garden book at a yard sale there for only $1 so have to do some reading.
