Buds on my Brugmansia

Coushatta, LA

I have two greenhouses, but one of my big brugmansias if it grow any taller i will have to put it in my big greenhouse. That one is a cross and it is wanting to keep growing up.Don't know how big it will get.

By the way i put plant food in my small plants too and they look so good.

Coushatta, LA

The plant food i have is kind of round cream colored balls.I don't know the name of it right off hand.

I have several kinds of fertilizer, even worm castings. I have a large bottle of Osmocote too so I have plenty on hand to feed everyone. On my list to do tomorrow is give everyone a nice big helping of food.

Coushatta, LA

Cool, sounds like you have a busy day tomorrow feeding your babies.

I guess it is time to get to bed, my eyelids are starting to droop. Be sure to post pictures when your brug starts blooming.

See you on DG's.

I have 5 open blooms on my brug and 2 poking their little heads out. Strange that one bloom is a single pink and the one right next to it on same branch is a double one. You would think they all would be double. Really are a pretty pink too. I'm hoping DH will be sure to water them when I am gone. Maybe I should leave post-em notes all over so he does remember. I have some smaller brugs that I will hav to put into bigger pots soon. You have some nice healthy looking buds there, Cody.

Have a beautiful Martha Washington geranium that is blooming. Got a slip from my sister who complains because they are coming up all over. They want $4.98 for a small plant at Lowe's. Just a bit of history lesson, I just read that Martha Washington was always called Patsy. Don't know where I'll use that bit of news, but it surprised me I never heard that before.

LOL!!!Thanks Pegi,my husband bought me a pink Brugmansia today. He called the place where they come from and the man said it was a Ecuador Pink.I will just have to wait until it blooms. It has 3 or 4 buds on it already.I will take a picture of it tomorrow.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Now I'm anxious to see the blooms on the Ecuador Pink.

Coushatta, LA

They have it in the plantfiles.I want to see what it is too when it blooms.

Pegi, have you ever seen a brug with fuzzy leaves? My husband said that they had a fuzzy leaf brugmansia at his work and he said it wasn't a datura.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

No, I've never seen a fuzzy leaf brug. I have some datura seeds that I'm going to try and germinate.. 50/50 chance is how I figure it. So many kinds of brugs it just boggles my mind.

Coushatta, LA

To me i think it sounds like a Datura my self, but who knows.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We will be surprised! Does sound like it will be a real beauty. I'm leaving on Thursday for 9 days in Minnesota to visit my sister and I'm already worrying my brug isn't going to get special care. I'm depending on DH to see that she doesn't go thristy while I'm gone.

Coushatta, LA

Pegi, thanks i thank i will tell him to get that one just to wait and see what it is.I hope you have a blast while you are gone.Have a little faith in hubby, maybe he will take care of them.By the way leave sticky notes anywhere he goes in the most in the house.Put one on the TV screen and in the bathroom and where every he goes.

Coushatta, LA

Pegi,it is going to get the fuzzy leaf plant for me.It doesn't have any blooms on it.Can't wait to find out what it will be.I hope it is a Datura, because i about 30 brugmansias now.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

He surely will find the notes on the TV. That comes on first thing in morning and if I'm here alone it is never on. I have some tomato seeds that just sprouted and I have to make sure he spritz them for me. Raised bed will be ready to start planting when I get back home.

I'll be anxious to see your fuzzy plant when I get back home.

Coushatta, LA

LOL!!!Thanks Pegi,i will take pictures of both of them tomorrow and i will post them.It has buds on it too.I hope you have a safe trip.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks RoseGirl, not too crazy about flying, just amazes me how tons of metal and steel can stay in the air

I'm suppose to be finishing up my packing so I better get off the computer and complete my job. Will "see" everyone when I get back. Should have some wonderful reading.

Coushatta, LA

Pegi,you are very welcome.Have a safe trip.Have a great Happy Easter.

Hello, I don't post much on the brugs forum to often. I do love to look at the pics. I have had brugs but would like to ask what you guys would recommend as a brug that is a white double, that blooms well and often. Most be fragrant. Is this attainable?

I have never seen a fuzzy leaf brug but I do like those with variegated leaves. Do they bloom much?
Thanks,
Teresa in KY

Coushatta, LA

Teresa, tell you the truth,i don't know much about Brugmansias. This is my first year dealing with them.I have been lucky so for and not lose any buds.I have a big one that has nine buds on it and 8 of them are fixing to open up.I will take pictures when they do open up.You might want to ask some one that really knows about brugmansia.

Thanks,Cody

Teresa.
Even though there are other double white ones, my favorite is still Creamsickle. It's really not a true white because in other areas of the country she turns apricot toward the end, but here in this hot climate she remains white. Her fragrance is like baby powder. I have 2 or 3 other double whites, but they are too small to bloom right now: Miss B'having, Wretched Mess, Knightii and Edna.

Knightii has fuzzy leaves. Variegated plants are slower growing because they don't have as much chlorophyll as a result it takes they take just a bit longer to produce buds and produce a flush. I absolutely love Snowbank for its foliage, but she has so much white, she's a slow grower and needs to stay out of the sun. She scorches badly even in early morning sun in a hot climate. Maya, on the other hand is a good grower and bloomer.

Coushatta, LA

Bettydee, that picture above that is bloomed. How can you tell what the name of it is?I bought it from my husband work. When they get their brugmansias in they don't have the name just what color it will be.Which one does that look to you?

Thanks,Cody
