And a Scrub Jay.
DAILY PICS VOL. 196
Pelle, those pictures are GORGEOUS!!! I like the last female cardinal the best, but they are all great. I can feel how soft they are just by looking at them. That's just amazing.
Adelbert, what pretty jays you have!
I have been on a lot of photography forums but the photography of the members here has improved much more than that on those forums. I guess it is because of the interest and dedication ya'll have in the subjects.
gardn_whisperer................congratulations, they are such striking birds.
Gardn_whisperer, your Waxwing picture is beautiful! I just love waxwings. I've been waiting for them to visit my neighbor's Mulberry tree. They haven't shown this year and the starlings and robins are going to finish off the berries soon.
Scic, those peanuts all lined up like that just cracked me up. No wonder the birds are screaming at you!

hey what ever works they actually land on the railing like 15 feet away and then hop all the way to the nuts that way I can get the pic I want they are getting braver everyday I was less than three feet from him and he didnt seem to care the little guys would at least look at me as to say what are you doing here
I really need a new camera mine is like so old 5 maga pixel and two times zoom so if the bird is more than six feet away I am out of luck so it is really hard work to get them at about three feet so that it is a good picture I am for mothers day which is also my birthday lol getting a rebel tsi with a good zoom lens lol even if I dont eat for a year its ok I can live off my fat hahahhahahah
I will be out again in the morning till it starts to rain and then I will have a break till late friday, I hope it comes as rain and not snow
I line up the peanuts because I noticed that the blue jay will check one each one he picks it up gives it a little shake and goes to the next one like he is checking which one has the biggest nuts inside, he is so funny
Great pics everyone!
Adel, Those Quail are such cute posers!
GW, Nice shots of the Cedar Waxwings and the female Red-bellied Woodpecker!
scic, Love the Redpolls and Blue Jay. You'll be very happy with the XSi !
GW, That's a funny one!
thanks pelle
I was missing you!

I have bookmarked that reference

those gulls look like they are talking
the picture you said was a joke is just lovely its amazing pic you should send that to birds and blooms with a little story that would make it into the magazine for sure
I just laughed my head off for ten minutes lol I am alone in the livingroom so DH asked me if I was loosing my mind hahahhahaha
oh, scicci--I can relate
me and my virtual life on the computer
I laugh out loud and dh can't get over how involved I get
I like your pic with the better half
there are so many birds here that I've never seen
(in florida or new england)
I live in the middle of the woods so birds are aplenty and yesterday morning as I went around the corner of the house I came face to face with a deer that was just standing there I dont know who startled more me or the poor deer lol I laughed by myself again lol it is becoming a habbit of me laughing when I am by myself people are going to start wondering if I am all there
sometimes its the dog doing something or the cat or the birds or someone on DG that will post a funny picture this site has been a life saver for me this winter since when its cold I cant go out and it has been a way of getting out lol without leaving the house
mona
thanks elpha
this evening was amazing
got a lot of shots
one little one evaded my efforts, but maybe tomorrow
I love tiny birds since most that come to my yard are medium/large
mona--although I live in a city now
I know what you mean
there are some titmouse that come to the feeders but for some reason they just take off when the door opens and they dont come back till im inside again lol smart ones or just shy
I have been trying to get the woodpecker upside down but he is not co operating either oh well there is always tomorrow
good night will post more pics tomorrow
This Oak Titmouse gave me heck when I opened the door to walk out on the deck. He was guarding his mate in the birdhouse nearby and made it clear I was to walk the other way.
This is the first year that the Titmouse and Tree Swallows each have a house that's just a few feet from each other and there's no constant fighting each other as in the past.
Duc, that Titmouse shot is so funny! I love it. That first crow is really a spectacular shot too. Getting such detail on an all black bird is quite remarkable.
That Titmouse is adorable duc!
