Announcing the Top Watchdog Ads

I am pleased to announce an interesting new advertising system here at DG. Yes, I know what you're thinking BUT this is actually a REALLY neat thing that we've been planning for many months now.

This feature is only available to subscribed members of DG.

You can read all about it here:

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Pretty cool! I just now caught the "Top Watchdog Ad" out of the corner of my good eye, best surprise that eyeball has seen in years! I think it's a keeper, Dave!

Great idea to not only have the ads fit the forums but also allowing only the Best of the Best companies participate. Ya done good!

Thanks ^_^

Dave. I wonder is it possible to have the ads open in a seperate window. saw one and had to checkit out and ya leave Daves. So had to keep hittign th eback button til I finally got back to Daves, or ya gotta open a whole ne wwindow yoruself for DG.

Hold down the shift key when you click. :)

Adding my thanks, too. It's given me a lot of new ideas, plus
vendors that I know I can trust.

Thanks for the Shift key tip to open the ad in a new window.
I was having a problem with that too.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Can we turn them off? 95% of them are for products in the US which are of no interest to me? Or can I move them to the bottom of the page where I won't see them?

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I love it !!!!! Even if I don't buy ,it sometimes shows me something I'd never seen before. So I have to check it out,I like learning about all the different kinds of flowers.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Viola--you can go in your preferences and turn them off. Same place you turn off the other ads.

Port Charlotte, FL(Zone 10a)

I just noticed these today and I Love it!

I was going to ask the same thing... I did the "shift" thing.... which opens a new window...

any trick to open a new "tab" ?

For a new tab, use the middle click on your mouse.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Hmmmm, dont think i have a middle click. I'll try though. thanks.

**edited to add....

since i have a roller ball ... i have 4 "clicks" one in each corner... the Upper Left + shift will open a new tab.

Thanks.

Ahh. My mouse is a "regular" mouse with a wheel in the middle. If I click the wheel down (as if it were a button) that causes any link to open in a new tab.

North Augusta, ON

hehehe...COOL!!

**had to try**

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

My mouse must have flunked that class. When I click on the roller wheel I get a magnifying glass with a + sign on it, but it doesn't really do anything.

When I want to open a link in a new tab or window, I right click and choose one of those options.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Joan, if your mouse is like mine, you can go into the Control Panel & assign the actions you want to each button.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Thanks for that info. I think I'll just let it be though, as I'm used to the right click feature. Plus, I'm not up to teaching an old mouse new tricks. ;)

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

What I mean is, you can change the action of the roller wheel to be useful.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

CTRL click on the link gives me a new TAB in the same window. I use Mozilla Seamonkey or Firefox.

Edited to add: I wasn't seeing the ads. I use a script blocker (NoScript) on my browser and had to allow 'adtuition.com' to enable the ads. I will probably not use this, because it would serve ads on other sites, which I don't like.

How do I turn these on? I looked thru my preferences and couldn't even find where I had turned off the regular ads. I must be having a senior 'day', because I went thru it twice and still can't find it.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Jan -- go to My Info | Your Action box -- last choice of Manage your Preferences | on the right side My Tools | 4th choice down is Ads check Watch Dog
