Babies and blooms

I've been around, but busy, and wasn't posting as much. I keep meaning to get to one of the get-togethers, and missing them, which has been a disappointment.

Glad to see you're raising a young gardener!

I see sweet pea tee pees, sunflower forests and hollyhock dolls in Chloe's future. LOL

Ohhhh how amazing would that be. Just ordered a pair of Kiwi's...gonna get fruit yet...whether the kiwis or the citrus trees...how fun would that be? I remember as a kid sniffing a citrus "hedge" (to my 3 yr old eyes) of either lemons or limes...I just loved to peddle my red tricycle beside it and simply sniff!!! Should've known then...LOL

What an adorable thread. I love the idea of early stages of gardening. I am hoping to begin a grandbaby garden this year and perhaps include the fairy house I started last year.
This is a pic of Abygail a while ago with my Hibiscus Hat.

Candee: Abygail is absolutely precious and the Hibiscus hat makes her look so cute! Definitely start children when they are young to begin gardening and enjoying the "fruits of their labor". It's the best way to learn!

That is so right. We were fortunate enough to have Eva here last weekend - she is 3 and she helped pappy Steve plant his potatoes. Fun for all!

What a joy to have Eva help her Grandpa Steve plant potatoes! I'm sure she'll enjoy eating them too!

If that's not the sweetest photo, haighr!! Gives me wonderful ideas for big blooms this summer!! Precious she is...I agree with Shirley!!

Oh how sweet, Haighr I would love to see your fairy house. My DIL was just talking about gnome houses. When she was much younger they use to drive by a place that had these little houses lined up along a small stream bed. They called them the gnome houses and she was thinking about having Jamie build her some for their yard.
Jr came yesterday for a sleepover and we were working in the Veggie garden so he helped. He helped dig out weeds, plant brockley and onions and watered everything in. His Mom was standing back and saying he doesn't want to help her in her garden, I just laughed and said that Grams garden is more fun. LOL
Here he is helping me with seedlings.

Chantelle,

Here's my other Brug cutting blooming....This one is the "Rose Souvelons".
My whole kitchen smells great in the evening!

There is another cutting that is forming 2-3 buds on it....they are still very small...

Took it outside to take a picture....

The unique thing I like about this Brug bloom is that it hangs at about a 45-90 angle, has a very short calyx and --saddly--almost NO tendrils....AND--I love the striated, puffy look on the inside of the bloom!

BUT--It is a good bloomer! Smells good too....

Holly - how sweet is that!! Don't you just love "helpers?!?" Esp when they're old enough to actually help!!

Gita - what beautiful blooms...your house must smell divine at night!!
