Actually, I said that was the last but I will post a picture of "Lucy Lizard". I find little anole eggs (look a lot like perlite) around back deck and I put one in the Terrarium back in October. It hatched! Lucy kept squeezing out a little opening in the terrarium so I released her to the backyard. But ... I put another egg in there before Lucy was freed ... that little guy/gal is still in there. We catch moths to feed it.

Thank you mortswife. he is very loving with other animals and people. So far he hasn't had any problems. That's why I said it was my gain, he is a great dog.
Sorry I edited the message twice, I had a couple of mistakes.
Lourdes, that last picture is amazing. Big dog and little kitty, best buddies!
^_^ Kelly, it looks like we've hijacked your thread with pic's of our critters!
I really like Cookie too and "Lucy Lizard".
I love animals, I really do. Congratulations all for those beautiful pets!
Sometimes rescue pets are the best, it's as if they sense they have finally found a true home where they will be loved and cared for. They show their appreciation with their gentle companionship. There are some that have been so horribly abused they never learn to trust a human, so sad. I've always felt those who abuse children, the elderly and animals, are evil monsters! We are supposed to be the caretakers. There are a lot of animals that are more humane than some humans on this planet.
Sooooooooo true Lin, so true
You can hijack my thread anytime for pet photo!
Lin,
I laughed out loud at Bubba's picture! That's hilarious! Your cats are gorgeous! Wouldn't have guessed Cali to be 15! And love that plant room and Lucy the Lizard!
Mortswife-
The doxi's are dear! How many dogs do you have? Yes, Mikey is very touchy, feely! One of these days he's going to end up knocking me on my head while I'm leaning over gardening!
Lourdes-
What a special dog Pecas is! Those pictures are so sweet!
Here's Mikey and Murphy: Not the best picture of them, but the most recent.
I LOVE all your babies Kelly, all of them are beautiful. I like Mikey and Murphy, those eyes I can not resist. I love all the kitties but Lucy and Sidney just stole my heart. As for Aggie I can only imagine how much you must miss her =(
throughout the years we've lost some and still miss them.
Was Aggie named for Texas A&M?
Enjoy them, they are precious!!
Oh my goodness, what beautiful babies!
Mikey & Murphy look like they could get into a lot of mischief together! Lucy and Allie are adorable and Milo and Gigi are a cute pair too! Sidney is not funny looking my book - what a gorgeous kitty!
.... and oh, look at those eyes on your sweet Aggie! Wow, 19? For a larger breed dog, that is amazing! We had a cat once that we had to have put down two months before her 24th birthday. We found her as a little bitty kitten in 1979. My Mom used to tell my DH and I that our backyard was a pet cemetery. We have 3 dogs and probably eight cats and a bird buried in the corner of the yard.
For all who have lost a beloved furry family member: http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
My favorite version of the Rainbow Bridge, you will need tissues, believe me. The photo's and music make it so special.
.....thank you Lin. I miss my Louise so much. She had Aggie's knowing eyes. Such a beautiful poem.
One of these days I'll read that version of Rainbow Bridge....right now with Mikey being senior and all of his issues and having just lost my stepdad sort of unexpectedly in January(cancer - we'd only known about it for 18 days and initially were under the impression it was treatable as he not been "sick") I know I won't be able to read it without bawling.
Lourdes,
I have NO idea why I named her Aggie! She was just a big, ole, laid-back hound dog! Best natured dog I've ever met - she was the coolest alpha - totally laid-back but totally in control at the same time, and completely non-competitive. She was far better at teaching Mikey and Murphy manners than I was! I will forever miss hearing that slow Thump-Thump-Thump of her tail. We think she was most likely someone's no-good hunting dog as she had buckshot scattered her through her backside - apparently it's common in some areas for hunters to do that?! She was a mess when we found her - about 25 lbs underweight, knocked up.
Kelly, I cry every time I read it ... but happy tears because I know in my heart that all our loved ones who have passed, including the furry, four legged ones are waiting for us. We will all reconnect some day. I'm so sorry about the loss of your stepdad. My dad just passed Feb 3rd, so my sympathy's and prayers go out to you and your family. My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer three or four years ago and it ended up spreading to other organs and to his bones. He was almost 84 years old and had been smoking since about the age of 13. My Mom passed (Feb 20) four years ago, at the age of 78, from breast cancer, that spread to her liver and bones. It's very hard losing those we love, whether it be from an accident, disease or old age. I am just so grateful that both of my parents were kept from a lot of pain and suffering, as they dealt with cancer.
Your Aggie has the most soulful eyes! I can only imagine what she went through before she found you and your family! I know she is appreciative of having such a good home now. We just had our oldest kitty at the vet again yesterday, $180 for exam and tests, waiting to hear from the Vet with the results of the blood work.
Well, I hope the weather is warming up for everyone. Spring is on the way ... new awakenings! We are having very high pollen counts here, Oak, Cedar and Grass. It's the time of year for sneezing, wheezing and watery eyes in Florida! But at least it's warming up and the sun is shining!
Wishing you all a bright, ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ sunshiny day!
((((( Hugs ))))) & Blessings,
Lin
Sitting here with tears streaming. I just got a call from our vet with the results of our Cali's tests from yesterday. Her kidneys are failing and he says the numbers were extremely high and there is nothing that can be done. He said we can have her euthanized today or they can give her fluids for a few days, but it's just prolonging the inevitable. Gee, it is so hard. We don't want her to suffer but it's so hard to make the decision to end her life. She has the sweetest disposition of any pet we've ever had in our household.
.... sending another furry friend to the Rainbow Bridge.
:(
I'm so sorry Lin, I know how much you must be hurting. I wish there was something I could do to ease your pain. All I can say is that I will be thinking of you.
xoxoxo
Kelly, the reason I asked is because the students from Texas A&M University are called Aggies. =)
Oh, Lin,
I'm so sorry about Cali. You know we all feel your pain. Kidney disease is such a tough disease to treat in animals and euthanasia is such a dreadful decision to have to make. My heart goes out to you, your family and Cali.
I'm also so sorry about your dad as well. I know I really miss my stepdad.
Take care.
Kelly
Lin,
I'm very sorry to hear about Cali and your dad. It is really, really hard.
All my best,
Doug
I went to bed last night crying having read the rainbow bridge...and now, mid-day I am back at it again hearing about y'alls sad news! It is such a trust we are given by our pets - such unconditional love and trust and all they ask is make sure they are happy and well and that they don't suffer. It is also so sad to say goodbye. I think that we are all going thru lessons in 'letting go'...but I wish it didn't tear our hearts out.........
Carol
Aloha, Aloha. :-) I have grown only one hoya before now so this is an honest question. I've noticed this little spot for about a week. At first I thought it was sap where maybe a leaf broke off . But now I think it may be a bud. Is that possible? It is small and I got it last April. I need to learn lots more. Did you get the photo I e-mailed? sometimes D-mail won't work on my laptop. Cheryl
Thank you all for your kind sentiments. I've been doing some research on line, reading about renal failure in felines. We are going to take our Cali in to the Vet tomorrow so they can give her fluids, but we will bring her home for the weekend, to take some time to say goodbye. She is almost 15 and according to Veterinary standards today, felines are considered elderly at the age of 7, at which time many begin to have health issues. She has been a sweet companion and it is soo hard letting go but we could never allow her to suffer and keep her hanging on, just for our benefit.
Cheryl, my eyes aren't the greatest, but that looks to me like a spot where a leaf just broke off. I don't see the beginning of any peduncle/bloom spur type growth.
Cheryl....I DID get the picture and I really appreciate it!!!! Thanks so much!!!
OK...are you talking about the top leaves (there is a green spot at the node) and on the bottom leaves there is a white spot between the leaves, at the node, where it looks like a newly formed vine or a peduncle may have broken off.....
I don't recall anything breaking off. It could have when I hung it up there a couple of weeks ago.
No worries...hoyas break and bend all of the time...they are tough.
kellyknits, you hoya blooms are so nice! Thanks for sharing them. I will hold on to my polyneura now that I have seen yours in bloom.
Lin, I didn't read the whole thread.............so sorry about your cat as I know you love them dearly.

Shelley,
I got a buottii cutting from Ted Green and it is growing like
gangbusters. I know getting a rooted plant in a little pot seems
good but I'm not willing to pay for it anymore.
It really is just weeks difference I think. Also, a lot of the results
I get rooting my own are even better than ordering those little bitty
pots.
Kelly, love your window! Your plants look so healthy and happy especially for the end of winter.
I am so sorry Lin and empathize with all who have lost their 4 legged family members. Both my Dogs are getting elderly and just the thought of life without them tears my heart into pieces.
Carol, REALLY sorry to hear about Louise. I know how close you were to her. She was really a sweetheart and special friend. I'll bet Thelma was/is lost without her.
I lost my Dad 15 years ago. He owned a little mutt who was his constant companion. When I visited Dad at dinner time, his dog would be sitting up on his hind legs right by Dad and it would not have surprised me to find the dog sitting in a chair at the table. After Dad passed, I adopted his dog. The little fellow was so depressed that he quit eating and literally pined away until he died too. It was heartbreaking!
Off to give my pets a giant hug.
Thanks, Mel...really. Do you still have Uggie?
Thelma (Louise's sister) has come into her own...her personality has flourished, she is really a different dog. I think Louise stole the spotlight all the time...
Ooooops, there she is now, asking me to go for a walk now that there is a pause in the rain.... bye
Alison---thanks for the encouraging words on the buotii cutting!! I'm excited to be able to get one, but wish I had a wider experience with rooting them....ah well, I've got to learn sometime, so this DL order should be good practice :D
Shelley
Carol, Uggie is sitting right beside me keeping me company. She will be 10 years old in May.
Good for Thelma. I imagine she does not mind getting all the attention.
Shelley,
They are no different from rooting anything else. Not special - even though
the blooms will be; the cuttings are the same as for anything.
Once you get it rooted; weeks at the worst, it will be a plant - just like Carol
says and you will see.....
it will grow on like a trojan!
I think hoyas root easier for me than any other plant I propagate...........very light soil-less mix and a zip lock bag..........under the lights and they have never failed me............
